Anti-Repression Cmte proposal for Feb 6 Action against police repression Occupy Oakland has faced heavy police repression since its inception. From the first police raid on October 25th, when the camp was violently destroyed and people were brutally tear gassed and shot with rubber bullets to the recent arbitrary arrests in the past several weeks the Oakland Police Department and city government have made it clear that they will continue to target and repress those in occupy Oakland . Often those arrested have their charges dropped after spending several days … Continued

Nationwide Support for Occupy Oakland; Solidarity Demonstrations in Dozens of Cities

WHEN THEY ATTACK ONE OF US WE ALL RESPOND On January 28, 2012, Occupy Oakland moved to convert a vacant building into a community center to provide education, medical, and housing services for the 99%. Police responded with tear gas, rubber bullets, beanbag rounds and mass arrests. The State has compounded its policy of callous indifference with a ruthless display of violent repression. The Occupy movement will respond, as we have always responded, with an overwhelming show of collective resistance. Today, we take to the streets. Across the country, we will … Continued

Move-In Day FAQ
Reposted from occupyoaklandmoveinday.org. Also see this in-depth Fact Sheet prepared by the OO Research Working Group. 1. Therefore, *please prepare to stay overnight,* at least throughout the festival. The first two days, will give us an opportunity to self-organize and determine the future of the building. There has been lots of discussion about how to … Continued

The Web Committee has been struggling with two different issues. Our site is in need of more (and more timely) content, in order to reflect the events and issues of the Occupy Oakland community. On the other hand, we have seen a rise in spam posts. The measures we take to open the site up more will allow more spam in, while measures which prevent spam from getting in at all will prevent most Occupiers from getting in as well. We have formulated a plan to address this problem. The first … Continued
