Proposal – Occupy WallStreet Not Palestine Occupied Palestine, October 13 -The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC), the largest Palestinian civil society coalition struggling for Palestinian rights, is proud to stand in solidarity with the movements struggling for a new world based on democracy, human rights and economic justice. Nationwide Support for Occupy Oakland; Solidarity Demonstrations in Dozens of Cities

WHEN THEY ATTACK ONE OF US WE ALL RESPOND On January 28, 2012, Occupy Oakland moved to convert a vacant building into a community center to provide education, medical, and housing services for the 99%. Police responded with tear gas, rubber bullets, beanbag rounds and mass arrests. The State has compounded its policy of callous indifference with a ruthless display of violent repression. The Occupy movement will respond, as we have always responded, with an overwhelming show of collective resistance. Today, we take to the streets. Across the country, we will … Continued

Occupy Oakland NEEDS bail funds!! Donation link attached!
OCCUPY OAKLAND NEEDS BAIL FUNDS! (click here to donate) Police Chief Howard Jordan has been quoted in AP saying there were almost 400 people arrested yesterday. There are many people who were arrested that need urgent medical attention, people who have been injured by the police or do not have their medication with them that they need to treat prior conditions. We need the money to bail these people out!
The (d)evolution of Occupy Oakland
There are a lot of reasons that protest movements wax and wane. People have short attention spans, or limited time committments. People move, have babies, get new jobs, or have to deal with family tragedies. Other times, the attitudes of those protesting can lead to reticence. They can make even someone who has donated lots of time and resources feel hesitant to return. Sustained movements like Occupy Oakland have a social component and definite social dynamics, and those dynamics began to turn ugly around the time of the second raid … Continued
Occupy Oakland Growing Pains
It is time for an old lady to scold you all. You really thought it would be productive to try to take over a shuttered public building for your own use? The Kaiser Auditorium was closed down because Oakland doesn’t have the money to keep it open. Don’t you all get it? Oakland is in deep financial trouble and when you add to that burden, it hurts everyone. If you want to gather your resources and come up with the money to pay for its operation so you can put … Continued

photo by Glenn Halog January 29, 2011 – Oakland, CA – Yesterday, the Oakland Police deployed hundreds of officers in riot gear so as to prevent Occupy Oakland from putting a building, vacant for 6 years with no plans for use, from being occupied and “re-purposed” as a community center. The Occupy Oakland GA passed a proposal calling for the space to be turned into a social center, convergence center and headquarters of the Occupy Oakland movement. The police actions tonight cost the city of Oakland hundreds of thousands … Continued

K.Ruby Blume: Interview with Artist and Founder of The Institute of Urban Homesteading by Willi Paul, openmythsource.com http://openmythsource.com/2012/01/29/k-ruby-blume/ “To me, gross national product is truly a myth. It happens only at a severe cost to the planet. This is a pyramid scheme of the worst kind. The loser at the end of the run is the people and the environment. We need new stories that tell of the richness that comes through putting energy and care back into a system and how that ultimately creates the kind of profit that … Continued
