[Passed at 2/22/12 GA] Proposal for Funding of Newsletter by Occupy Oakland Education Committee

Whereas Oakland schools are under a massive national effort from the 1% to be privatized and resegregated, we, the Occupy Oakland Education Committee, propose that Occupy Oakland fund a newsletter to educate and organize ourselves and our communities to fight back against these austerity measures. We request $600/month to print and distribute our newsletter, Education for the 99%. Our working group is open to all interested parties and meets at 3:00 PM on Sundays at the Neibyl-Proctor Marxist Library at 6501 Telegraph in Berkeley. 21315

[Revising] Proposal for Finance of Occupy Oakland Medics

The Occupy Oakland Medics are in need of financial assistance. Since the lack of an Occupy Oakland home, our supplies have been dwindling. We feel it’s imperative to train new street medics so as to expand the practice into various communities. The increase in police violence has increased our need to provide mutual aid to people in the streets during actions, as well as provide aftercare. We need supplies to continue doing this work and, in order to do that, we need an allowance. We are asking for a weekly … Continued

[Passed at 2/19/12 GA] Proposal for Working Group to Develop Action Against Police Brutality

Introduction: Day after day, week after week, month after grueling month, members of Occupy Oakland as well as bystanders who simply spoke up when witnessing police violence, have been subject to arrest and abuse. While we recognize that such treatment is nothing new to many longtime Oakland residents, especially people of color, it is an issue that has been pushed to the forefront because of the frequency with which it has occurred at livestreamed Occupy Oakland events. One of the most common chants during such abuse has been, “Who do … Continued
