After almost a year and a half of working to divest Alameda County from apartheid, we’re now the first of many-to-come US counties with an investment policy that aligns with the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions Movement (BDS). When implemented, the EIP would ensure that Alameda County stays committed to protecting our communities here at home and around the world by not investing in human rights abusers.

Thank you so much for helping our campaign by endorsing our letter to the Board of Supervisors. We hope that you can continue to stay involved in the campaign as our work moves towards advocating for timely and effective implementation of the EIP and supporting the development of ethical investing policies in other jurisdictions.

Join us on ZOOM, OR IN PERSON for a strategy debrief this Sunday, October 12, from 10 am – 11:30 am.

For the moment, let’s celebrate the achievement and also take 10 seconds to thank our staunchest allies for their support. Please use this link to send Treasurer Hank Levy and Supervisors Nikki Forunato Bas and Elise Márquez an email showing your appreciation. (https://tinyurl.com/TYACAllies).

Our WIN was covered by numerous local media: SFGATE, KQED, Oaklandside, Bay Current, and Oakland North.

And if you’d like to learn more about our victory, Bay Current and KQED provided a good analysis. Please also take a look at our press release and victory post on instagram.
