My family occupied the Port on December 19, 2011, my son lagged slightly behind looking at people and costumes; a police car drove slowly down the opposite direction and the officer glared and pointed at my son. THE LATEST FROM BENJAMIN FULFORD, 12-20-2011 North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il was murdered Saturday as part of a major power struggle in East Asia, according to Asian secret society sources and Japanese military intelligence. Why hasn’t the money that has been donated to the Oakland movement been spent on ways of addressing the real needs of the residents of Oakland? The January 1st March and Rally in Memory of Oscar Grant and all Victims and Survivors of Police Brutality working group is requesting $1825, $1000 of which is a refundable deposit for a sound truck. We are requesting the funds for leaflets, posters, banner, flatbed truck, PA system and mobile sound system. 13306

About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
