Occupy Patriarchy! Occupy Oakland’s feminist/queer block is organizing to occupy/decolonize a building and establish a collective space in Oakland (at a location that remains undisclosed). On January 8th we will kick off with an event at 19th and Telegraph, noon to 5pm. Presentations, discussions, and a direct action are being planned. Oak Tree Update- Results of Soil Investigation by City

Memorial March and Rally on the 3rd Anniversary of the Murder of Oscar Grant Three years ago on January 1, 2009, Oscar Grant, an unarmed black worker, was executed by white BART police officer Johannes Mehserle. First Building Occupation Assembly, Wednesday December 28th, 5pm, Oscar Grant Plaza – North Steps

Recently, the GA passed a proposal to take a large building as a social center for Occupy Oakland. The date for this action is January 28, 2012. There is an ongoing overnight vigil at Oscar Grant plaza. It’s been  very, very cold at nights, and folks are facing harassment by the Oakland PD resulting in continual loss of belongings, and a feeling of isolation. Grand Lake Theater’s #OO Fundraiser a Great Success

Thanks to the Grand Lake Theater and the fun and lively crowd that came out on Tuesday night, the # OO benefit was a great success, raising over $6,200 for Occupy Oakland on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.   Attendees enjoyed two special screenings of the 2006 film, “V for Vendetta.” Still energized by the Port Shutdown success of the previous day, the crowd was animated.  Cheers went up in the audience in response to classic lines like, “People should not be afraid of their governments.
