In the Spirit of Lewis & Clark. Interview with Andrea Laliberte,earthmetrics.com by Willi Paul, Permaculture Exchange

In the Spirit of Lewis & Clark. Interview with Andrea Laliberte, earthmetrics.com by Willi Paul, Permaculture Exchange http://planetshifter.com/node/2004 – exceprt – “The real advantage of using a GIS is when you want to work with topography or produce topography-derived datasets such as slope, aspect, hill shade models or stream networks. These datasets can still be produced on a smaller site, but in many cases, the available free data are too coarse to produce good topography and more detailed survey data are needed. One free GIS package I use is Quantum GIS, … Continued

Unleashing the Collective Genius of San Francisco. Interview with Beverly Pitzer, TransitionSF by Willi Paul, Permaculture Exchange

Unleashing the Collective Genius of San Francisco.  Interview with Beverly Pitzer, TransitionSF  by Willi Paul, Permaculture Exchange   – excerpt – “Personally, I don’t see competition really playing a role in this movement. For this global experiment to work, we need cooperation and lots of it. Competition and a built in sense of scarcity have been the basis of our economy for a long time. As experts like Richard Heinberg share, we have reached the limits of growth, and operating in the same competitive mindset will not help us to build community … Continued

Very Discouraging

Persons wearing black clothing and backpacks were observed committing acts of vandalism and then retreating into the nearby, marching crowd. Officers were unable to make arrests. St. Paul and May 1

By my understanding, the St.Paul principles call for a separation in time and space of diverse tactics. How can one know, or reasonably expect,  that such separation has been agreed to by the black bloc?  Or, to raise this another way, will  OO attempt to create such separation?  I found it curious that  the announcements of no shields, no masks, etc. for the Pacific Steel Workers march have not led us to realize that such protection should also be extended to children, seniors, non-documented protesters, etc, in every march. It’s … Continued

Illegal Anchor-Out

Please be aware of the publicity that has been created regarding the people living in “illegal anchor out” boats in the Oakland Estuary.  Because they are considered homeless, it is assumed that they are all thieves stealing from all the local marinas, and that they dump all their waste directly into the bay.  They make up .009% of the population and have no rights.  Please read about it in the Alameda Sun, East Bay Express and Oakland North publications.   25619

Journey Council of the Tillamook Tribe. New Myth 19 – Willi Paul, openmythsource.com http://planetshifter.com/node/2000 “We are a critical connection, a living and breathing vision for the future,” he decried. “We support the local struggle to be free to grow what we can and barter for what we cannot. Our values also include working in harmony with the land, mediating community conflicts and embracing Nature’s alchemic wisdom for spiritual guidance. We support the Global Principles.” 25001
