occupy oakland Coordinating committee meeting 10.24.2011 at 1.00 pm in the amphitheatre. Please send at least one representative from your committee, subcommittee, working group or caucus to attend the second coordinating committee meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to enhance communication between committees and work more harmoniously together. There are still several committees not represented on the Occupy Oakland website and we need to make sure we have a manner in which we can communicate to each other and bring in new community members. 1255

The march began at Frank Ogawa Plaza, where protesters have been camping out since October 11 in protest of economic inequality and the federal bailout of Wall Street banks. All committees and subcommittees meet today at 1.00 pm in the amphitheater. To improve function and communication it is imperative that we all meet and discuss the roles and needs of each committee. We must coordinate so we can all work to better support and hold each other accountable.   1033

We are all in this together – Let us unite!

I visited Occupy Oakland earlier this week and approached a woman who looked official. I said, “Hi, are you helping organize this?” I had a few questions and wanted to know how to get involved. I am with the 99% and have been supportive in many ways of the movement. The woman, Sophia, responded “Get out of my face.”  I was shocked.  I wasn’t the only one that had been treated rudely at Occupy Oakland.
