Group Discussion https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87388824824?pwd=QTWNvr8cGeGo1ZDW7x9Y8W0sDaNxRc.1 Meeting ID: 873 8882 4824 Passcode:  042428     In his book: The Phenomenology of the Capitalist Eternisation, Brazillian-Italian Scholar João Romeiro Hermeto argues that Capital maintains itself by, among other means,  replacing the People’s consciousness of the past and vision of a better future with a constant, debilitating spectacle of the present.  In his talk João summarized his findings on this issue and discussed related matters relevant to the revolutionary struggle in the ICSS session of 3 May 2026. In the upcoming session several committee members will present their views on … Continued

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85449203697           Meeting ID: 854 4920 3697   The Left Unity Slate was first formed in 2022 when the Green Party and the Peace and Freedom Party jointly endorsed and supported a slate of statewide candidates.  That decision was based on the many shared values between the two parties, such as guaranteed access to healthcare (Medicare For All), truly affordable housing, union-wage jobs, public ownership of energy, ending wars for profit, and a comprehensive climate plan. This year we have continued the Left Unity Slate … Continued

Demand the immediate resignation of BART Deputy Chief Antoinette Turner. @ BART Board Room
On Monday, May 11 at 4:00 PM, we are calling on our community to show up in force to the BART Police Civilian Review Board Meeting and demand the immediate resignation of Deputy Chief Antoinette Turner. What we saw was not just misconduct. It was violence. It was kidnapping. Footage shows Shaquille Coleman, an unhoused Black man, being assaulted by San Leandro police officers, his hair violently pulled, and then taken across city lines and dumped in Oakland. At the scene was Antoinette Turner, then a lieutenant, watching and laughing as it happened. That is … Continued

Oakland Privacy: Fighting Against the Surveillance State @ Online
Please email contact@oaklandprivacy.org a few days before the meeting to get up-to-date location information or obtain Zoom meeting access info. Join Oakland Privacy to organize against the surveillance state, police militarization and ICE, and to advocate for privacy, surveillance regulation of both corporations and the state, and government transparency, around the Bay and nationwide. We fight against spy drones, facial recognition, tracking equipment and online tracking, police body camera secrecy, anti-transparency laws, and requirements for “backdoors” to cellphones; we oppose “pre-crime” and “thought-crime,” —  to list just a few invasions … Continued

About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.

If you would like to participate while the pandemic is still amidst, send an email to occupyoakland-request@lists.riseup.net. Check the calendar or this text to see if we have resumed in-person meetings.
