When the Sheriff Gets Drones, The People Obtain Drone Hunting Licenses.

The Occupy Oakland Research Team recently discovered an obscure 1909 law that gives anyone the right to issue licenses to bear such arms as are necessary to shoot down “dangerous flying machines” over one’s property should they be there without permission. Therefore

BE IT PROCLAIMED THIS DAY

Whereas Oakland is the People’s Town;

Whereas the Sheriff of Alameda County does not own Oakland;

Whereas the Sheriff of Alameda County has recently acquired, through nefarious means, two drones to spy on the People;

Whereas The People rejected such acquisitions and expressed their extreme displeasure two years ago;

Therefore Be It Resolved

The Sheriff of Alameda County is not welcome in Oakland, and

The Sheriff of Alameda County is described by a certain anatomical feature, and

Drone season will begin January 2nd, 2015.

Licenses are available for aerial drone hunting on a first come, first served basis, for the nominal amount of $1.00.

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
