Please join the Blueford Family in a walk around lake Merritt as we use our heels to heal the community on the 2 year anniversary of Alan’s death–the event will be a celebration of Alan’s life and a time for The People to unite to “use your heels to heal the community”

A SOLIDARITY WALK AROUND LAKE MERRITT ON SATURDAY MAY 3RD, 2014

We will gather at the gazebo at Lake Merritt (right near Children’s Fairyland) at noon, begin the walk at 1pm. Please feel free to bring banners/signs to add to the celebration. Also, all modes of transport are welcome to join the walk–wheelchairs, baby strollers, skateboards, big wheels, bikes, motorcycles, golf carts, etc……as long as EVERYONE IS SAFE, it’s all welcome!

AGAIN, PLEASE REMEMBER, this is a celebration of Alan Blueford’s life & we wanna make this celebration HUGE!

About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
