@occupyoakland #oo #osf #occupycal #iceCreamBloc #ows
– oakland.org website summary: When: Tuesday, Mar. 6, 3-5pm.
What: We will be canvassing as much foot traffic as possible in the
shopping center at 51st and Broadway. (Several banks have branches there
including Chase, the bank servicing Mrs. Katy’s loan)
Comment: Purportedly Mrs. Katy refers to a “lesbian” who’s partner
suffered a stroke and went blind. The couple’s income was reduced and
Chase Bank “refused” to refinance. The couple paid almost “$150,000” on
their home and it is up for a foreclosure auction. There are several
banks in the area (see below). The hash tag #iceCreamBloc appears to be
a “calling card” for more aggressive protestors. This is the hash tag
used during several Occupy Oakland (#oo) protests over the last week.
The is no evidence of planned violence at this time. Ends.
Banks in the Area:
Chase: 5050 Broadway (phone 510-452-6605)
Bank of America: 5148 Broadway (phone 510-273-8069)
1st United Services Credit Union: 5112 Broadway (phone 800-649-0193)
Wells Fargo: 5130 Broadway (phone 510-658-5510)
