Beginning immediately, given the understanding that a group making a proposal cannot discuss it with the whole of the occupational population before presenting, each proposal shall be treated as a living document. Enabling the initiators to accept and apply amendments and adjustments during the discussion will make it possible to develop a proposal into a document approveable by the vast majority of occupants. This tactic will bring us closer to true consensus, and increase the likelihood of more clearly defining ourselves, while avoiding the loss of good proposals due to incomplete, contentious, or confusing language. This will better reflect and serve the needs and mission of the community.
this is backed by teak freer and mark valentine, among others.
this is the best way to contact me, i expect this to be heard asap, but it is not an emergency. i will expect that you will not allow another very small group to bring an emergency proposal against participation in this event, as it is not an emergency. that said, this is time sensitive, (the event is 15dec) and should be brought up before any further emergency proposals.

btw this proposal was part of a concerted effort by ten or more people working toward improving our process through the use of this proposal process. personally i would prefer if we just start over with real consensus, with maybe the 90% adjustment. we’re not using consensus now. we’re operating by a process that is basically modified representative democracy, with super majority requirement.
whoever from facilitation entered this has made a mistake. please delete the second paragraph, which is actually unrelated to this proposal. also, please add the original list of supporters for this proposal.
i am looking for questions, comments, etc. people can email me to remind me to look here if a discussion ensues, as i am overloaded and may forget to check. i will be posting this on several fb pages and such in an effort to get the discussion going. this had 88% approval when it came up before, and people’s concerns were about the discussion on each proposal taking longer…. if we want to govern ourselves, we need to put in our time and stop expecting the very few to come up with ideas and refine proposals on their own, only to be shot down by the general assembly. if we work on the refinement of proposals as they’re presented, as a large group, we will be fulfilling our promise to govern ourselves, and thereby deserve the right to do so.
