Proposal Queue has changed due to the addition of 3 emergency proposals brought to Facilitation Committee Meeting on 12/3/2011. The full text of the these proposals can be found by scrolling down :

1. Support the rally and protest against AIPAC on December 5 [added 12-3-2011, requested emergency 12-3-2011][voted 12-3-11 approved emergency proposal] [called 6:30PM 12-3-2011]

2. Occupy Oakland Tribune Finance Proposal [requested emergency 12-2-2011][voted 12-3-11 approved emergency proposal]

3. Change name to “Decolonize Oakland” [Was held for Sunday’s GA as Emergency Proposal] [called 6:45PM 12-3-2011] [called 5:30PM 12-3-2011]

4. General Assembly at every major march and rally

6. Straw Poll for whether to use people’s mic vs amplified sound at the beginning of GA

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
