I just saw, that wooloo.org is managing temporary homes for occupiers in NY. When heads of city of oakland cleaned away the camp, is this happening? I am not inside, i just went to the last march and occuping of the empty lot was a delirium. It brought a big hope. With continuing of destroing of nature and nations through this system we will end in disaster in less then 20 years. There is no any other solution than Change. Power to everybody. 7458

The 18th and Linden camp, last time I checked, was moving on, due to questions of legality and willingness of the owners to let us occupy. While that might not be the perfect site for a camp, the tactics are brilliant. Since the beginning of the occupation there’s been a lot of talk about blocking evictions and foreclosures, as well as using empty foreclosed properties for winter camps. With the growth that is forseen to take place with the movements against inequality, exploitation and poverty and giving special notice to the events on Oakland, the Mayor of the city Jean Quan has stated she pledged to support the Occupy movement since around October. The key to the movement’s success is for the facts to be presented to the entire society (of America and hopefully the World). First the words “99%” says so much. Political Party

It’s time for the Occupy Movement to form a National Political Party. We could call ourselves the 99’ers If we can’t persuade the Congress and Senate to change the Laws and Regulations regarding the disparity of wealth in this country by our actions then a Political Party would be our next logical step. I don’t know how to do this but I’m sure we have folks within the movement who do.. 7430

About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.

If you would like to participate while the pandemic is still amidst, send an email to occupyoakland-request@lists.riseup.net. Check the calendar or this text to see if we have resumed in-person meetings.
