Jim an assistant store team leader at the Oakland Whole Foods Market reports that any information regarding Whole Foods Market threatening to fire people for participating in the general strike is an incorrect rumor. He said that in fact, “We are doing all we can to make sure that team members are able to participate in the strike if they wish.” Whole Foods Market apparently prepared for the event before hand allowing any employee that wished to participate have the day off. 3246

I would like to bring awarness to Nestle and would like ppl to protest there as well at Nestle main office in Oakland. I’m Union and in the middle of contract negotiations. I curently work for the Dreyer’s Ice Cream part and write the sale orders for all the nestle ice cream in the stores for my route and in a few months will also be responsible for all the frozen pizza’s as well. I’m with you Oakland. Thank you so much for representing us and exposing the abuses by those in power that are rampant throughout the system. I hope you shut the port DOWN! Many of us have been the victims of police brutality and I thank you for standing up for all of us against their violence. About OccupyOakland.org

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.

If you would like to participate while the pandemic is still amidst, send an email to occupyoakland-request@lists.riseup.net. Check the calendar or this text to see if we have resumed in-person meetings.
