Debt is a Four Letter Word. Strike Debt is an Action Verb.

As individuals, families, and communities, most of us are drowning in debt to Wall Street for the basic things we need to live, like housing, education, and health care. Even those of us who do not have personal debt are affected by predatory lending. Our essential public services are cut because our cities and towns are held hostage by the same big banks that have been bailed out by our government in recent years.

Debt resistance is just the beginning. Join us as we imagine and create a new world based on the common good, not Wall Street profits.

Strike Debt.

Strike Debt Bay Area, loosely affiliated with Strike Debt (check out one of their videoes) and Occupy, is dedicated to educating people about and organizing resistance to debt, and finding alternatives to our current system of debt slavery.

Strike Debt Bay Area will hold its next “Ideas into Action” monthly meeting this coming Saturday, May 4th, at 3:00 PM in Oakland (details here).

We have groups which will be talking about Research Projects, Education, Direct Action (we recently did a Tax Day protest at the Federal Reserve in San Francisco), a Debtor’s Union and Alternative Instituions. More ideas are welcome!

We are also organizing our next Debtor’s Assembly (watch a great video from our first one in February), which will take place on May 18th in San Francisco (details here).

Come learn that (and why) “You Are Not A Loan!”
