HAYWARD — Police were investigating an officer involved shooting Sunday morning, the third time Bay Area police opened fire on suspects this weekend.

The shooting happened around 3:20 a.m. near the intersection Fletcher Lane and Watkins Street, said Hayward police. It wasn’t immediately clear if the suspect was dead.

According to media reports police pulled over the suspect who later tried to back his vehicle into officers who then opened fire.

This incident followed police shootings in San Jose and San Francisco. Both incidents involved car chases and ended with police fatally shooting the suspects.
