Educators Reception
“A Child’s View from Gaza”
Friday, November 4, 4-6pm
917 Washington Street
Oakland, CA (near 12th Street BART station)
Refreshments will be served!
This is an exhibit of extraordinary art created by Palestinian children living in Gaza. The artists, who range in age from 7-14, all lived through Israel’s bombing and invasion of Gaza from December 2008-January 2009. The drawings express their feelings and understandings of that experience.
This will be an informal event, designed to give you a chance to see the drawings and talk with other teachers about how our classes might use and respond to the works. Several educators and artists who have been working experience working with children in Palestine will be on hand to answer questions and brainstorm creative art projects for your own classrooms. Please drop by!
If you can’t come to the reception, but would like to bring your class to the exhibit, we will be happy to open the exhibit to meet your schedule. We can provide a docent. Contact Josie Shields-Stromsness at josie@mecaforpeace.org.
