WASHINGTON — The United Nations envoy for freedom of expression is drafting an official communication to the U.S. government demanding to know why federal officials are not protecting the rights of Occupy demonstrators whose protests are being disbanded — sometimes violently — by local authorities. About 80 Occupy Denver marchers took the downtown streets tonight with new chants and new faces after weeks of a sparse attendance on the sidewalk near their former site at Civic Center park. The march was part of a national campaign called Solidarity Sunday to support more than 400 Occupy Oakland protesters who were arrested Saturday.
