BBF-Boycott Black Friday, join the growing movement

The concept is simple, don’t go to the malls or big national retailers on Black Friday, spend the day with family and friends. The goal, to show the 1% that the 99% can effectively turn the biggest shopping day of the year into the smallest. Stay Strong, Stay Peaceful! 3827

Congratulations to Occupy Oakland on a significant step in enpowering the 99%. The bad things that happened were probably done by Gov’t infiltrators to discredit the movement. To all of you in Oakland, Keep up the great job you are doing. Add to your efforts to BOYCOTT BLACK FRIDAY, no one buys from national retailers over the Thanksgiving weekend, this doesn’t include food or medicine. A national boycott of Black Friday would show just how powerful we can be when the 99% join forces. KEEP THE FAITH 3285

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
