Fat Ed & his buddy Tina Flores are working towards sending a container of medical supplies and computers to the UNIFA Medical School in Haiti in April or May. Ed has already got about 70 or so computers ready, and would like to send another 30 or so, but can use donated tech-crap (working monitors, hard drives, keyboards, rodents, memory, computers, he’ll format them and put Linux on them so you don’t have to worry about your data). To raise money for the container Tina is opening a thrift store in the Fruitvale for a couple of months, and the Grand Opening is today. I’m not sure what hours she plans to staff it, but she can probably use contributions of household items. You can contact Ed to pick stuff up (“biow @t riseup D-O-T net”), but he is fleeing the country for a few weeks next week, so maybe try Tina at “tina9941 @t yahoo D-O-T com” (sorry for obfuscating the eddresses to discourage spam).

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
