Mobilize for The Farm (& Gopal): Pack the Courtroom!
When: Thursday, May 31st
Time: 9:30am
Where: At the Courthouse in Hayward, Department 520
Address: 24405 Amador Street, Hayward, CA 94544
The struggle to permanently protect the Gill Tract from reckless development by the University of California continues. Earlier this month, UC Berkeley filed a lawsuit on about 15 of the organizers from the Farm, including Gopal Dayaneni of Movement Generation. Tomorrow (Thursday) morning, is their first court appearance, and the UC will argue in the courts to have those targeted by the lawsuit BANNED from these precious public lands. This is excessive, preemptive over-reach and we need to show that the people do not approve. Help us pack the courtroom – having a good showing of people during the first court appearance sends a clear message to the UC that we will not stand for this misuse of our legal system to target community organizers! Stand in solidarity with Gopal, the others being targeted, and all of us working to protect the Gill Tract and the future of our food system!
