Sacramento Conflict

I am in support of what the Occupy Oakland movement is about, but when the movement becomes violent against another activist group, regardless of their beliefs, that is not acceptable.  Occupy Oakland is about tolerance, and our constitutional right to assemble.  There are enough issues to fight against, like homelessness, the break-up of a a homeless camp in San Jose, where are these people  suppose to go?  The 1% is foreclosing on families homes, making people homeless, then they want to sweep them under the rug, or somehow make them disappear.  This is injustice! This is what should be a priority with the Occupy movement, not against another activist group.  Let’s keep focused on what is important! Not ruin the integrity of the movement.

I have to agree. Set your priorities toward one goal–and achieve it peacefully. From what I understand of the movement it is to free our government from the influence of corporations and their lobbyists and get the power back to the people. It is to create a fair taxation program which adequately funds the public’s needs. And achieving this needs to be done properly (i.e. witha clear focus and NON VIOLENT means). To take off and protest against another group’s protest–on a subject that just seems to be a distant tangent of the Occupy group’s focus (i.e. it’s S. Africa’s unfortunate problem, not ours and Occupy needs to fix what’s going on HERE)—waste of energy and time and does very little to clarify Occupy’s goal to the public. It does nothing but validate the media’s attempts to label Occupy as an unfocused, rowdy, potentially violent group. Keep focused. Preserve your integrity. No more masks, no more destruction, no more violence. Please make this a valid movement that can be taken seriously. I support Occupy, I think it’s vital to our nation. Preserve your integrity!
