Black Bloc: Smash the Narrative March

I’d like to fish for some feedback on an idea.

This action can alternatively be called “No Walls, No Hedges.”

I propose a march in full Black Bloc, taking the streets, black flags flying, call the media and tell them we are going to smash things (I’m sure the police will join us too), and proceed to march around the city planting fruit trees in dirt medians, patching potholes, maybe build a swingset in a public park, etc. We can end up in OG for Food Not Bombs, literature distro, and a BBQ party.

Do folks have ideas on how to make this happen? Other projects to do while marching?

this is a beautiful idea, but if you are not non-violent, how far can you get. if people are going to react at the first sign of oppression, how many trees get planted. that said, if you need trees, call me at 415 453-0372, i have a bunch of little valley oaks

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
