Building Occupation (Move-In) Assembly Revised Meeting Time

The first Move-In Assembly, held on Wednesday 11/28, was attended by nearly 100 people who began the four principle working groups (Logistics, Building, Outreach/Media and Festival) that will plan the building occupation for January 28th, 2012.

The meeting time for this assembly was adjusted in order to prevent running into the time scheduled for the General Assembly. On January 2nd and 4th the Move-In Assembly will meet at 4:30pm. Starting January 7th it will meet Sundays at 12:30pm and Wednesdays at 4:30pm until the Move-In Day (1/28)

If you would like to be part of any of the working groups and plan for Occupy Oakland’s indoor home please come to the assemblies.

2011 was only the beginning, lets get ready for 2012!

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
