“If you waste your time a-talkin’ to the people who don’t listen,
To the things that you are sayin’, who do you think’s gonna hear?
And if you should die explainin’ how the things that they complain about,
Are things they could be changin’, who do you think’s gonna care?”
— Kris Kristofferson
Gotta love Kris Kristofferson, he’s like basically my hero. If there’s one thing I love more than any damn thing in the world, it’s our U.S. Veterans like Kris Kristofferson (he flew helicopters in Germany in the early 60s), and especially the Veterans of war of course, who come out of the Service and turn against the war machine. That goes for all those true American heroes, from Kris to Smedley Butler in the 30s to Scott Olsen in Oakland. They are one of my greatest inspirations in this struggle. I am ready to march to the gates of hell for Bradley Manning — people like Obama and Bush are not fit to stand in the same company as Bradley Manning, much less for them to stand judgment over him.
How ’bout one more from Kris? This is like major inspiration to me, it’s called “Don’t Let the Bastards Get you Down.” There’s music for it too, if you wanna hit up youtube or whatever:
They’re killing babies in the name of Freedom
We’ve been down that sorry road before
They let us hang around a little longer than they should have
And it’s too late to fool us anymore
We’ve seen the ones who killed the ones with vision
Cold-blooded murder right before your eyes
Today they hold the power and the money and the guns
It’s getting hard to listen to their lies.
And I’ve just got to wonder what my Daddy would’ve done
If he’d seen the way they turned his dream around
I’ve got to go by what he told me, try to tell the truth
And stand your ground
DON’T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN
Mining roads
Killing farmers
Burning down schools full of children
Fighting communism
And I’ve just got to wonder what my Daddy would’ve done
If he’d seen the way they turned his dream around
I’ve got to go by what he told me, try to tell the truth
And stand your ground
DON’T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN
