What: A meeting to form an ongoing autonomous action of love.
When: Sunday, 11/13 at 2pm
Where: Near the flower shop in OG Plaza. If there is a raid and access to the plaza is blocked, then meet at Lafayette Square at 11th Street and MLK in downtown Oakland.
Why: Radical love and righteous anger are two key feelings that drive this movement. However, too much anger can corrode the spirit and make people burn out. We have a lot to be angry about, but we also need to be a positive force and celebrate what we love about Oakland and the 99%. It has been and will be a hard week for Occupy Oakland, and while we struggle, I hope we can remind ourselves of the better world that we envision, and embody that for a time.
Let’s, meet plan and create! Personally, I am imagining strolls (not marches) through downtown and other neighborhoods, paced to be inclusive and inviting to families with young kids and people who are mobility impaired. Let’s carry signs about what we love (nurses, art galleries, local independent businesses, credit unions, etc.) and be a visible force of creativity and connection to the people around us, especially the small businesses that have been impacted by the camp. But I want to hear your ideas, so please join us!
