protest shifts, eat & drink local

When will OWS-510 do something productive like “protest shifts” outside the major criminal financial institutions?

They could protest 24/7 so people could still feel that sense of community. In every city in America people could do “protest shifts” around the banks, lenders, and all the other financial and corporate predators. Then people could pick a different restaurant and or bar to support each night.

Attack Wall Street, Support Main Street! Get drunk, eat well and do a 4 hour protest shift, it’s not rocket science. We need to build alliances with the chamber’s of commerce not alienate them. Please focus and stop this Anarcho-Burning Man Tent Tantrums.

lol, I have never been to Burning Man but you must have some kind of point. I will do a shift with you. Drop me a message on here. Or find me at the GA pretty much any night in Oakland, I’m not too hard to find. As people if they know the one die-hard Capitalist in the crowd.

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
