Occupy SF moving to a city-approved lot?

This is the first I have heard of this, and thought OO might be interested. The writer is active in the OccupySF camp and does free acupuncture over there several times a week.

I posted this morning on my FB page and wanted to reiterate that the OSF camp is most probably moving to a site at 1950 Mission st. that they negotiated with the city to Occupy. It is SFUSD property and has been empty as long as I can remember…just a lot with several portable classroom trailers on it. They will have access to one of the rooms for meetings, but will still be sleeping in tents. They will have access to cold water and electricity as well. Don’t know if it is the best idea for them but they were threatened with “permanent” eviction from the current spot….

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
