Nestle!

I would like to bring awarness to Nestle and would like ppl to protest there as well at Nestle main office in Oakland. I’m Union and in the middle of contract negotiations. I curently work for the Dreyer’s Ice Cream part and write the sale orders for all the nestle ice cream in the stores for my route and in a few months will also be responsible for all the frozen pizza’s as well. Nestle has already said they are firing all merchandisers soon and expect their sales rep to merch everything including the pizzas. But our contract negotiations are not going well they expect us to take on twice the amount of work as before but trying to now pay us $11 hr and 50 hr week mandatory, no overtime (which is against law) and take away our vacations giving us 2 weeks only. This work load is easily 80 hr of work but I cant believe they think we would be ok with losing more than $10-$12 an hr, work more hours and no overtime pay, and lose 3 weeks of vacation. I cant live on this!

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
