Hello, Oakland! My Name is Patti and I’m a former police officer in St. Louis. I am also with Occupy_Police and a huge supporter of all Occupy movements. I spoke a week ago yesterday at the movement here as well. I was shot intentionally in the face and up into my brain by a fellow cop. To this day, I have bullet and bone fragments in my brain. I’m permanently disabled as a result of that shooting, and was fired by my own department, who did their best to cover the incident up and shut me up. They fired me 5 years after I was shot.

With that being said, I would like you to know that I will be blogging on http://www.occupypolice.org/ and welcome any questions or comments/concerns you may have. I am absolutely appalled (and THAT is the understatement of the century) by the actions of police officers all across the country! I am not sure on any plans of action yet to convince cops that they most assuredly ARE a part of the 99%, but that is certainly my goal. My blogs will reflect directly upon police officers’ actions, brutality and mentality in response to the Occupy movements. My hope is that, together, we can figure this extremely complex issue out and find viable ways to penetrate their current mentality.

This website was created in the fall of 2011. Most of it is now moribund, but the Occupy Oakland Calendar, which lists activist events in the East Bay (and occasionally elsewhere) is still maintained, the Search facility works to find earlier posts and keep OO’s history alive, and articles are occasionally still posted to the front page.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly met in-person weekly (with a rare skip) since October 10th, 2011 up until the pandemic, at which point we went to bi-weekly Zoom meetings. We do checkins, go over the activist events of the past meeting interval, and have general discussions on politics and revolution.

For many years, until the pandemic, we put on a Feed the People event monthly at Oscar Grant Plaza, where all were welcome to come and partake of a freshly cooked, savory meal, before our GA.
