If so, I’m ashamed. I thought we’re asking people to move their money to local Credit Unions and local community based banks. If this is true, it makes us look like hypocrites. Also it makes us seem like we don’t care about Oakland since Wells Fargo engaged in some of the worst predatory lending in Oakland and now it refuses to make loans to local businesses to help Oakland’s economy.
If it is true, we should remedy this right away by closing the account and then deposit the money at a local community bank that helps Oakland’s economy. We should put our money where our mouths are.

I find it curious that someone would comment on a news story and not bother to find out all the facts about it from the object of the story. Yes, Occupy Oakland discussed the generous 20k gift and the bind of conditions to accept the $$ but it was done in the open at the GA and was accepted w/ the condition that once the gift was received and able to be moved out of the bank, Wells Fargo, it would be done. We managed to get the $ transferred to us in a Wells Fargo account and within 24 hrs. the money was then taken out and put in a new account at a local community bank. GOOD TO KNOW THE FACTS BEFORE CONDEMNING SOME ONE(S). geez.
