I think that the uncertainty of the movement, as is being noted in the mainstream press, could be that the truth, even for us, is difficult to face. Nothing short of the abolition of the capitalist system is going to change anything. There can no longer be any doubt that the nations of the world, and its people can continue to operate under a system that enriches a few, while it makes the lives of billions insufferable, and almost not worth living. We need a system that values human life, not uses it up like any other commodity, and allows each individual a true choice on how they want to live their lives, not one whose choices are severely restricted only because of a lack of money. We can no longer allow food, shelter, and medicine, to be bought, and traded on the stock market, and we can no longer sit around, and watch our brothers and sisters being manipulated, and battered by few greedy persons. It is a giant step to take, and maybe even a frightening one. My local organization here in Massachusetts, Occupy Northampton, has issued flyers saying that they do not want an end to corporations, so what is the point of their protest? It seems we are facing the problems that our brothers and sisters in the Arab countries are now facing, and hard choices must be made. Capitalism is not a political system, but an economic one. There is a large difference between the two. Capitalism does not care for individuals, or their rights, or how they are forced to live their lives. As long as a few individuals are profiting, we think that the system is a success. Abolishing capitalism will not create chaos in this nation, it will merely take away the stock market as the driving force of this society, and replace it with something that is more humane. it is extremely difficult for any people to contemplate a complete change, and it seems to be at the heart of the matter. There are other ways to conduct ourselves, and our society, and there is nothing wrong with a society that works for the good of all the people, instead of just a few. The old communist scare of years ago was just a ploy to keep the masses frightened, and to stop them from questioning the decisions of their so-called leaders. It makes me nervous to think such thoughts, but in the end, it might become the only possible option. In the meantime, do not back down. Whether there is a clear agenda, or a group of leaders is irrelevant, the important thing is to let the politicians, and their billionaire owners know that we have had enough. They all have to go.
