Blockade Post Requires Revision

Categories: Open Mic

If support and understanding is expected for the Nov. 2nd Blockade a well worded argument that is an airtight example of critical thinking is necessary as the main call to action.  Please revise the present post,  http://www.occupyoakland.org/strike/,  by elaborating on the reasons that EGT is being targeted.  Include specific details, and evidence identifying the company as a significant disruptive corporate conglomerate that is profiting from our corrupt political system at the expense of the working class.

One must be mindful that the attention of the general populace is often split between many different interests, and responsibilities.  As a result, for most keeping up on the news has a tendency to be at the bottom of the list.  Something as simple as including a time-stamped block quote from a trusted source explaining the situation with a visible url, http://www.thestand.org/2011/09/heres-why-longshore-workers-are-so-angry/ ,  to follow for more information would suffice.

Otherwise, we run the risk of confusion, eroding loyalty, and/or casting a bad light upon OccupyOakland.  Here are some candid responses that I gathered from people that read the post; Note, they were unaware that I was writing down their reactions and I honestly believe they have never heard of EGT before.

“I don’t know if I support that”

“Won’t that just stop people from doing their jobs?”

“OccupyOakland is different from the SF one they seem to be going the anarchist route”

btw- For those creating main page public postings, please read MLK’s famous “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”.  It is a great resource for creating thoughtful, reasoned, and structured responses to unjust laws, and forces.  Thank for you for reading this far and I hope no ones feelings are hurt – this is intended as constructive feedback so that we may work together to insure the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
