I was there last night to show my support and learn. I was overwhelmed by the rampant use of pot and alcohol. I understand it is a Friday night on Halloween weekend, however it is my belief that it is best for us to band together at this time with clarity in our hearts and minds. Honestly, does this kind of consumption occur frequently by members of your community? I asked  some one who I believe was a part of the first aid station if she could tell me details about the intentions of the strike, she replied , “No, I can’t, not really. Basically we are going to take to the streets, shut down the city and party” I say this is NOT the time to party, as in an organized group of people gathered for merriment and celebration. A party as in an organization to gain political power. Keeping in mind the Middle English definition of “PROTEST” To Vow or Solemnly Declare. We have power in Oakland let us be wise with it.
