Hello all,
Children’s Village is a space where parents and children can play as well as be involved in Occupy Oakland. It is run by volunteers. These volunteers are NOT childcare providers – this means that parents cannot drop off their young ones and walk away!
Our goal is to position ourselves close enough to the activities in the plaza – so that parents can hear the discussions and workshops – accommodation can be made to allow parents to participate more directly if needed. We also want to be far enough away so that young children are not directly troubled by the intensity of adults working through the issues of our Movement!
Right now, the village is only available on Sundays from noon – 5pm, so that parents can attend the 2pm GA meeting.
We would like to be open to support the other GAs and will do so when we have enough volunteers. IF you would like to volunteer. please contact us by emailing : oaktownchildrensvillage@gmail.com
