March to Piedmont? Because that’s where the money is.

Someone at a City Council meeting pointed out the other day that there are no 1%ers in Oakland, why are we protesting here? Well, I love my town and I want to see Occupy flourish and grow here, but it’s not a bad idea to branch out a little now and then. Why not march up to Piedmont park? I think we might find some 1%ers up there to take our message to. We will be dropping by the next GA to put this forward. 7100

Call for immediate action!

In response to recent events around the country such as UC Davis, Oakland, and OWS; Occupy Norfolk has created a statement and petition calling on President to speak up and condemn the use of violence against police protesters in the United States. We want to get this petition on his desk as quickly as possible, in order to do so we need to gather 25,000 signatures. This can happen today. Let’s make it happen. IN SOLIDARITY. http://wh.gov/jIh 7037

General Assembly 11/20

Where will the General Assembly be today? What time will it take place. Yes, I see the calendar of events. But in light of recent developments with the camp on the move it seems uncertain. I want to be there tonight. I’m sure others want to be there tonight. There is much to discuss. Should we find parks all over Oakland to occupy? Maybe the next parks should be in Montclair and Rockridge. Perhaps we should occupy Jean Quan’s yard and Ignatio de la Fuente’s yard. The camp could be … Continued

#UnifyBayArea

Let us Unify Our Greater Community. Let the “Burroughs of the Bay” Unite against the tyranny of the 1%. It has become clear that Solidarity is our only voice against the powers of supposed 1%. Let us gather and regroup as a Community. It is not Our intention to homogenous the various Occupy movements around the Bay.  We hope to establish a forum to discuss and organize with any concentrated efforts on the part of the Greater Northern California Bay Area to continue the Occupations and Protests. This is … Continued

YOUR POLICY, OUR POVERTY!

This is a call for the Occupy Oakland movement to gain the support of Lech Walesa and start an American Solidarity movement. Lech Walesa was the leader of the Solidarity Labour Movement in Poland in the 1980s. The main action in the solidarity movement were countrywide general strikes that stemmed from the shipyards in Gdansk. Doesn’t this photo look familiar? Same roots, greed, totalitarianism, corruption and a police state… Lets fix this system before there are tanks on the streets of America. Solidarnosc was able to achieve free labor unions … Continued

This is what democracy looks like?

This is what democracy looks like? On November 18 I posted an apology to Occupy Oakland. I had helped sell the idea of a joint march and rally with “organized labor” to the general assembly. I had thought it would be an event at which we – Occupy Oakland – would be able to get our radical message out to the rank and file of some of the unions. Instead, with the collaboration of some of the most radical people in the occupation (as well as some who just recently … Continued

OO — Movement or tantrum?

As a 99%’er, I feel that Occupy Oakland is losing the plot. The latest call to action posted states “Long live the Oakland commune.” This movement shouldn’t be about wasting time, energy, and resources battling its oppressors by fighting to set up a symbolic encampment in Frank Ogawa or Oscar Grant plaza (whichever you prefer) or even a new public location. Citizens and activists do not need to hold a physical space in order for OO to exist. If they take the plaza, they do not take the movement. OO … Continued

GETTING THE COPS ON OUR SIDE!

The arguments we need to unite cops, firefighters, soldiers and teachers with the movement! Show them they are also part of the 99%! Then go after the co-conspirators, congress and the supreme court: 6789

OO Needs Rebirth

A sign at Occupy Boston: Capitalism is Organized Crime      BACKING OFF:  After contributing to OO since Oct. 25 including being tear-gassed and witnessing rubber bullets and flash bombs in the afternoon before the worse attacks at night, I decided this week that I had to withdraw my active involvement.  The posts so far on this section speak more eloquently than I– especially the poetry–to what it is that has led me to this separation. OCCUPY, FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE: I became aware of the concept of “Occupy” back in … Continued
