For event and activity announcements.

Invitation to be heard, hear, and drink beer.

I would like to invite anyone who would like to discuss the capacity in which O.O. should engage in politics (or civic actions) to join me tonight (Saturday) at the Kerry House Bar at 745PM. I’ll be there till around 9 (longer if things get good). You can think that capacity is absolutely nill, I still want to hear what you have to say, I only ask that people in the discussion treat each other with respect. I understand it’s last minute on a Saturday and at a bar, but … Continued

The New Common Sense

This has been linked to but not posted. Let’s get a conversation going about this. Could Occupy Oakland stand behind this document? How could Occupy Oakland support the New Common Sense? Shall Occupy Oakland be the first Occupation to sign this document? Food for thought (after those yummy Thanksgiving leftovers!) In Unity, THE NEW COMMON SENSE A Declaration of INTERDEPENDENCE, born of necessity, from and for the collective conscience of the “99%” to and for the oligarchic “1%” of the United States of America. SUMMARY SECTION I: The Right to … Continued

“Win America Coalition” seeks to game & pickpocket US.

Google, Apple, Oracle, Cisco along with other big time corporations have parked $1.4 Trillion offshore in tax havens.  Now, in the guise of bringing needed revenue into the US, they are lobbying hard for a big discount on taxes, from 35% down to 5.25%.  They already hurt US labor by offshoring these activities, so, Really?   OWT Supporters, please use your voice to resist this effort!  Everyone loves using the tech of these companies.  But think of all the good that could be done with the tax revenues if they had … Continued

Where the rubber hits the road: Taking back Occupy’s past from the 1%

That the Occupy movement has been talked about in the mainstream media and that at least a third of Americans support it is a huge victory in itself. The Occupy movement is far from a fringe movement or a fad. Let’s put it this way, about 45 years ago, the counterculture in the United States really took off. People are still talking about it and its effects were profound in our society. Just ask any hard-core conservative. My cousin Robbie will tell you that everything went to hell thanks to … Continued

OAKLAND! http://www.occupymyforeclosure.org/

The 18th and Linden camp, last time I checked, was moving on, due to questions of legality and willingness of the owners to let us occupy. While that might not be the perfect site for a camp, the tactics are brilliant. Since the beginning of the occupation there’s been a lot of talk about blocking evictions and foreclosures, as well as using empty foreclosed properties for winter camps. We now have an online forum for organizing these occupations. Please share with anyone who might benefit from this action. Power to … Continued

March tomorrow in solidarity with Cairo! Emergency situation!

If you are following the news on Democracynow or other non-corporate news sources, you are hearing like I am all these reports of brutal military attacks on the protestors in Tahrir Square of Cairo.  We have exchanged many messages of solidarity with them because they seek the same things we seek, fundamentally:  democracy, a voice for themselves and their children in the future, a peaceful resolution to decades of manufactured conflict, the chance for somebody to work hard and improve his/her life. There is a march planned for tomorrow at … Continued

Petition to Stop Violence Towards Peaceful Protesters

Petition to Stop Violence Towards Peaceful Protesters In order to stop violence towards peaceful protesters, we must stand strong with peace and dignity to preserve our rights as civil human beings. We must also allow others, whether we agree or disagree, to have the same rights as our own and without harm. This is vital to maintaining our own freedom. The reason this petition to stop violence towards peaceful protesters was created is because there is too much police brutality in too many cities across the nation. Don’t believe me? … Continued
