Update on Next Re-Imagine the General Assembly Event

We have rescheduled the gathering to re-imagine the GA, originally planned for July 14.  We are planning to have the next event to Re-Imagine the GA after an upcoming Sunday GA in late July.  At this gathering we will look at concrete suggestions from the surveys and post-its and generate new ideas for the GA.  We will post the date soon.  We invite others to join our Working Group as we would like to be inclusive of as many perspectives as possible in our planning process.  The Working Group to … Continued

Friday, July 6th, anti-police brutality advocates will march in solidarity with the family of Raheim Brown Jr, gunned down by Oakland School Police officers Bhatt and Bellusa January 22, 2011. Unarmed Raheim was barely out of his teens when he was gunned down by school police on Joaquin Miller Rd. Officers Bhatt and Bellusa attempted to pull Raheim out of the vehicle he sat in with a female friend, then shot him seven times, twice in the head. They also brutalized the young woman. Occupy AC Transit BBQ & Speakout – Saturday June 30, 2-5pm

The BBQ will feature a speak-out by AC-Transit drivers and riders. There will also be a presentation by Occupy AC-Transit on our current campaign around bus transfers, as well as our plans to not only fight fare increases and worker concessions, but get free bus passes for low-income people and improvements for drivers. On Saturday, Occupy AC-Transit, a subcommittee of Occupy Oakland and Occupy Oakland’s BBQ Committee, will co-host a rider-driver Speakout at Arroyo Park in East Oakland.
