Jobs Not Jails @ County Building | Oakland | California | United States
On Tuesday, March 24th the Alameda County Board of Supervisors will finally vote on the county’s public safety realignment budget. For the past six months, the Ella Baker Center has been campaigning for the supervisors to set aside more funding for community-based re-entry programs and services—instead of giving most of the money to the sheriff. Our community-backed budget proposal is based on the reality that less people are returning to jail, and more are in need of programs and services to help them when they come home.
