FTP March against Police Brutality @ Oscar Grant Plaza
Mar 3 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

*** This event is being called by the Occupy Oakland Tactical Action Committee. It will continue weekly. ***

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you identify as peaceful and are likely to interfere with the actions of your fellow protestors in any way (including telling them to stop performing a particular action, grappling, assaulting or holding them for arrest), you may not want to attend this march. It is a militant action. It attracts anti-capitalists, anti-fascists and other comrades of a revolutionary bent. It is not a march intended for people who are not fully comfortable with diversity of tactics.

***

The Oakland Police Department has harassed and brutalized Occupy Oakland and participants in the vigil. Camps and liberated foreclosed buildings have been raided and shut down. OOers at the vigil have been arrested for as little as standing nearby when the police decide to raid, all the way up to the ridiculous charge of lynching. People have been physically assaulted by those supposed to protect and serve, but only do so in the interests of the 1%.

With dozens of our comrades having been arrested in the past couple of weeks, and culminating in the city’s revocation of the vigil’s permit and the immediate threat of another police raid to clear the plaza, the time has come to rise up and let them know what we think of them and that we will no longer meekly accept their violations of our civil and human rights.

This event will be held weekly. Spread the word, send the invite, join us as we march in solidarity against police repression.

Oakland Education Association Solidarity Actions @ OUSD building, Fremont High
Mar 28 @ 3:00 pm – Mar 29 @ 9:00 pm

Wednesday, March 28, 2012
Fremont High School at 3:00 PM

OUSD building, Oakland at 4:30 PM

  • “Acceleration TSA”
–an idea whose time has come?
  • Teachers told they must reapply for their current jobs!
  • Or is it another hastily designed OUSD experiment on flatland students of color?

OEA members across the district have varying opinions on the merits of this idea.

BUT WE AGREE THAT:

NO member should accept the unlawful method by which Superintendent Smith unilaterally imposed yet-to-be-described working conditions upon our fellow members.

NO member will question that by refusing to communicate, collaborate, and problem solve with those democratically elected to safeguard our best interests, Superintendent Smith has made it easier to ignore member’s rights in the future. If we fail to answer these divide and conquer techniques that undermine our collective strength, then we fail our bargaining team, and more importantly, we fail our kids.

NO member should suffer the indignity of having to apply for a job already held.

Your OEA bargaining team is preparing for negotiations with the OUSD for a new contract. How will you add strength to their efforts?

OEA SOLIDARITY ACTIONS

Join one or both actions on Wednesday, March 28, 2012.

3:00-4:00 – Fremont High School: 4610 Foothill at High Street, Fremont

4:30-6:00 – OUSD School Board Meeting – OUSD Building: 1025 2nd Avenue, Oakland

Honor joint OEA/OUSD agreements! Support your OEA bargaining team! Reject unilateral actions by Tony Smith! Wear OEA green on Wednesdays!

Foreclosure Defense Action! @ Fruitvale BART
Apr 11 @ 9:30 pm – 11:00 pm

BANK ACTION THIS WEDNESDAY!

We have been meeting with Richard Harris, a  homeowner in the Fruitvale who is facing foreclosure and who has just been denied a loan modification. An ex-state police officer and an ex-SF firefighter, he has been in his home for 25 years and the bank thinks he is just another entry on their balance sheets.  They think they are going to sell his home from out from underneath him in a month.  The system is rigged, his old unions are absent, and the banks are giving him the same old paperwork runaround while the clock ticks.  Time for Occupy to step in and take this fight public.

WHAT: SAVE RICHARD HARRIS’  HOME!!  Bank Action and Street Canvass

WHEN: Wednesday,  April 11,  2:30-4:00 pm

WHERE:  Fruitvale BART to gather and hold a pre-action briefing before we leave for the bank.

WHAT:  We will be delivering a demand letter to the branch manager, seeking to initate good faith negotiation and escalation of Mr Harris’ case as well as holding an informational picket outside the bank and street canvassing on foreclosures in the neighborhood.  This isn’t a bank closure although the banks often try to close rather than deal with their own customers. Livestreamers will respect our media parameters or will be deemed “hostile” and be dealt with accordingly. This is a disciplined action with a set of agreements that will be discussed at the pre-action briefing.

See you there!!

This is a public fight now!!
