Protest Clinton-Clooney Fundraiser in San Francisco! @ Huntington Park
Apr 13 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Calling all conscientious humans of San Francisco!

George and Amal Clooney, coupled with Hillary Clinton will be hosting a fundraising dinner in San Francisco on April 15th. “The fundraiser is for The Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee for Hillary for America, the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic committees of 32 states and Puerto Rico” (http://fortune.com/2016/03/25/clinton-clooney/). The dinner costs $300,000+ to attend for a couple, and around $33,000 for an individual to be able to dine at the table with celebrities and to take a photo with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Let the people of San Francisco gather and march through the main streets of Nob Hill to protest this event and to show Hillary Clinton that we don’t accept this kind of corruption. Rich people should not be allowed to buy politicians. Imagine, for example, how far $30,000 could go to help the homelessness problem in San Francisco. This corruption-fest is not just undemocratic, it is immoral and obscene!

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/hillary-clinton-george-clooney-fundraiser-221207

The very least we can do is to remind Hillary’s rich donors of the corruption they are a part of. We will protest outside the event so that none of the attendants can chose to close their eyes to criticism and insulate themselves from the people in a fancy dinner. We are the people! We refuse to be excluded! We demand to be heard! They don’t want us there. We will be there! Bring your own posters and banners!

Another description:

HELLO PEASANTS OF THE 99%

We have set a schedule for the protest, as well as a meeting location. We will meet at 5pm, hold a potluck, then march to Pishevar’s mansion with chants and cacerolazo (pots and pans to make some noise).

We are securing a safe and spacious location for the potluck. It will be within a couple blocks of 1266 Washington St., and we’ll send it out soon!

The plan is to meet at 5pm for a ‪#‎dinewiththe99‬ potluck. If everybody brings a dish, this will be a huge success. Finger foods are preferred because they’re less messy, and we highly encourage everyone to bring their own utensil and plates to reduce waste. At the same time, we encourage everyone to bring extras for those who aren’t fortunate enough to have silverware. We’ll also need water, paper towels, and garbage bags, as well as people willing to help clean up. We have six tables, and we’ll be bringing dishes as well.

Hunger Strike Against Police Terror. @ Mission Police Station
Apr 22 – Apr 29 all-day

Update 4/29 (via email) :

This morning when the #Frisco5 were asked how they were feeling they replied: “ Let the press know that we are tired and bodies are getting weaker and that yesterday took a lot out of the five strikers – thousands of people stopping by to share their love to two dozen press outlets. They will be resting for much part of the day to conserve energy and sustain the through this journey that may continue for many more days.”

They are on day nine of their hunger strike and city hall seems to be ready to let them starve to death.
The mayor’s tone deaf attitude towards citizens who have put their life on the line, to stop police terror , has enraged the community. Members of the community have started a petition to remove Chief Suhr as Chief of Police.

https://www.change.org/p/edwin-lee-fire-sfpd-chief-suhr-support-the-hunger-for-justice-hunger-strike?recruiter=2173347&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink

Tomorrow they will hold a rally in front of Mission Police Station in support of the strikers.
Enough is Enough!!! The chief must go.

Update 4/28:

The crowd is chanting the names of black and brown people gunned down by SFPD (self-appointed judge, jury and executioner), for as many bullets the police shot into their bodies. This video also shows The People’s demand for a full community meeting (after the most recent killing of Luis Gongora) casually denied. Hunger Srriker Edwin confronts the Captain about the murdering of our brothers and gets a smirk. We will win. The word is out now. Join us at 17th and Valencia. Also Justice 4 Mario woods coalition meeting tonight at 350 Rhode Island 6 pm. We will take this hunger strike to focus our power.

Update 4/26:

Hunger strike is growing. Please come down to Mission Police Station at Valencia and 17th in solidarity. Spread the word to friends in other cities and states: this hunger strike is because racist SFPD continues to murder black and brown people in the streets in ethnic cleansing. We have lost members of our community. This is a national emergency. Our power comes from love and from the word being spread: along with it: OUTRAGE.

Original Post:

Hunger Strike at Mission Police Station until Greg Suhr is fired as Chief of the murdering SFPD

Hunger strike at Mission Police Station today, tonight, tomorrow until Greg Suhr is fired as Chief of the murdering SFPD.  Join us in solidarity: on Valencia between 16th and 17th. The hunger strikers are dead serious. And they need you.

This is not a publicity stunt by any means of the imagination. We have real people with real families, with institutions that are being run, pre schools and careers.  This is legitimately our last option.”

Bring blankets.

Stay tuned for an announcement of OccupyForum this Monday night at Global Exchange on Strategizing: How Do We Keep the Police from Killing People?

Abolition of Policing Workshop @ 3rd Floor
Apr 23 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Want to learn how to work toward abolishing the cops? Want to hear how we challenge the notion that policing keeps us safe? CR Oakland regularly offers this workshop that looks at the role and history of policing in the U.S., the way it has impacted various communities, and how people have resisted and challenged its inherent violence. This workshop also goes over how we can reduce our reliance on policing by highlighting the various ways that building up community strength and practices lead to true safety that does not depend on law enforcement.

The building is wheelchair accessible. Please email croakland@criticalresistance.org to RSVP.

Oakland Janitors March @ Oscar Grant Plaza
Apr 28 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm

Oakland Janitors March demanding a tech economy that works for all!

Contracted janitors are an integral part of daily operations at tech company offices, but the majority of janitors working at tech campuses across California are earning poverty wages. Our wages consistently trail behind the cost of living, especially in Oakland with the rising rents. In fact, there are more janitors living in poverty today in the Bay Area than there were in 1990.

Janitors are working in a toxic environment where exploitation and abuses including rape, sexual assault, and harassment, as seen in the PBS Frontline documentary Rape on the Night Shift, can occur. That’s why workers across California are coming together to say Enough! ¡Ya Basta!

Our contract expires next week. Janitors will decide shortly if there is a reason to go on strike throughout California to protest these unfair labor practices. While we don’t want to go on a STATEWIDE STRIKE, we are ready and willing to fight.

This is the last action in Oakland before our contract expires. Will you stand with us?

Turn Up on Trump (PUBLIC CALL FOR EVERYONE IN THE BAY)
Apr 29 @ 7:00 am – 11:00 am

Hey Folks, This contingent is being organized/ called by the Anti-Police Terrorism Project, Black Lives Matter Bay Area and the BlackOUT Collective. Our groups are led by Black folks and People of Color, who have long connections to our communities in the Bay area, specifically SF and communities in the East. We have strong allies like Asians 4 Black Lives, Occupy Oakland, SURJ, Rising Tide, BASAT. We will operate as Affinity groups meaning: because there is a large mass of folks ready to hit the streets (on this page and on other pages) we do not approach this mass protest with the idea that one group will lead the direction or tone. And we do not expect for us to all use the same tactics or participate in the same program. But all of us agree that people of color/ the most impacted should always be centered. It’s a core shared value. People are going self organize. This is both a general call to action and an opportunity to coordinate some of the on the ground logistics. Our offering is messaging, coordinating roles, tactics, and a place to build community so we have each other’s backs in streets. ‪#‎Autonomy‬ ‪#‎SharedValues‬

Turn Up on Trump: PUBLIC CALL FOR EVERYONE IN THE BAY @ Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport
Apr 29 @ 9:00 am – 11:30 am

Trump announced Wednesday that he will deliver the kickoff address for the California Republican Party convention on April 29. Cruz and Ohio governor John Kasich are also addressing the convention.” – Breitbart article

Building a mass action wall to keep him out! Donald CHUMP thinks he’s going to give a speech in the bay. The republicans are meeting to build more facist power. The people will rise and shut it all down. California has the most prisons in the US and rates amoungst the lowest in education. We need systemic change and TRUMP isn’t it. This is a call for all affinity groups and community members to turn out and turn up!

Fire Chief Suhr March/Press Conference @ Raymond Kimball Playground (for march)
May 3 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

San Francisco’s Police Chief Greg Suhr has blood on his hands. Specifically, the blood of Mario Woods, Alex Nieto, Amilcar Perez-Lopez, Kenneth Harding, and a whole host of others who his officers have gunned down. Every time SFPD murders Black, Brown, and poor people you can count on Chief Suhr lying to the community and creating a false narrative of officers fearing for their lives.

The Justice 4 Mario Woods Coalition demands the immediate firing or resignation of Chief Suhr. With the hunger strikers putting their lives on the line for this demand, Chief Suhr should have been fired yesterday. There will be no peace and definitely no business as usual until our demand is met. Join us in a march and press conference on Tuesday May 3rd, before Suhr is scheduled to participate in a “police accountability forum” and demand #FireChiefSuhr!

We are meeting at 5pm near Divisadero and Geary at Raymond Kimbell Playground and then marching at 5:30 over to the “police accountability forum” at 2266 California Street for a 6pm press conference, demanding‪#‎FireChiefSuhr‬
