Y.O.G.A. = You Occupy, Get Access!
These workshops are being ran by individuals from native communities who brought forward the Memorandum of Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples that Occupy Oakland agreed to adopt. In order to move forward with this solidarity work this workshop is being held.
What does it mean to acknowledge the United States as a colonial and imperial nation? What is colonialism and imperialism?
What does it mean to acknowledge that Oakland is already occupied land? Who are the Chochenyo Ohlone people?
What does decolonization and deoccupation of the United States and Oakland mean? What can it mean?
Come discuss and learn with each other.
Meets Monday Wednesday, Friday and Sundays at 6.
Meeting for all who wants to join the team. We are non-hierarchical, consensus-based, autonomous group. We have a wide range of experience, but we come together as volunteer lay health workers to provide first aid, to street medic for actions, and to support the wellness of Occupy Oakland.
Occupy Cal GA decided – with over 500 votes, 95% of the assembly – to organize a call for a strike and day of action on Tuesday, November 15 in all sectors of higher education. We will strike in opposition to the cuts of public education, university privatization, and the indebting of our generation. We also call for simultaneous solidarity actions in workplaces and k-12 schools.

Embodying The Movement – Somatics for (R)evolutionaties.
Using movement, writing, and art-based practices we will create a safe space to address some of the stress, fear, and pain that arise out of healthy response to volatile situations. When doing this stressful work, self-care becomes imperative! Many of us have experienced some degree of trauma of late, whether that’s conflict with police or the life circumstances that brought us to this movement in the first place. In this group we will take time to ground and nourish as well as to stay present with the discomfort that may arise when we slow down enough to feel the body’s response to these “unacceptable” situations. By slowing down to feel we give our nervous system a chance to release this stuck energy so we have more resources available for clear, poignant, and engaged action.
