PROTEST, MARCH, DANCE!!!
On Saturday Feb 14th there will be a Sea of Red – Remembering the Stolen Lives march gathering at the Oscar Grant Plaza 14th & Broadway at 5:30pm.
The event organizers are asking folks to wear red for the march to create a sea of red as we march to symbolize the blood OPD has shed in our streets.
The march will go from the plaza to OPD HQ at 7th & Broadway where names of stolen lives will be read, from there the sea of red will go from OPD HQ to Alan’s House, aka The Alan Blueford Center For Justice where there will be a night of revolutionary love & dancing.

While millions will be celebrating their love, many families will still be grieving the loss of their loved ones who were ripped away from them.
4MileMarch has called for a nationwide action to recognize the black lives stolen from their families by police violence with the Sea of Red Action
The Oakland Sea of Red will start with a rally at Oscar Grant Plaza then march to OPD for a vigil and a reading of the names of the Stolen Lives. The march will continue on to The Alan Blueford Center For Justice for the Revolutionary Love Dance at Alan’s House! Because it ain’t a Revolution unless we’re dancing!
Please dress in red, bring candles, and red ribbons with the names of lives you would like to honor. We’ll be tying them to the trees and posts beginning at the steps of the OPD and along the path of the march. The route will be a Sea of Red to mark the bloody trail that police violence has left behind right up to Alan Blueford’s front door.

Indybay Reporter Arrested for Making Photos of John Crawford Stickers at Oakland Walmart
David Id of IndyBay was detained (twice), handcuffed, searched & charged with California PC602.1, misdemeanor interfering w/ a business, for making photographs of stickers that had been placed on product packaging inside Walmart during the #BlackLivesMatter protests. His court date is Wed, Feb 18, 9am at Wiley Manuel courthouse on 7th Street.
BAAQMD meeting to oppose crude-by-rail in Richmond
The Air Board staff has refused to rescind the permit of the Kinder Morgan crude-by-rail operations in Richmond. It has flatly denied appeals by the City of Richmond and numerous community groups, asking that this process be conducted through an open CEQA process, not through a closed-door ministerial action. Attend the next BAAQMD meeting and let the directors and staff know that the refusal to rescind the permit is unacceptable.

Presentations will be given by Attorneys Tony Rossmann (lawyer for the City of Berkeley’s lawsuit against the Post Office) and Brian Turner (lawyer for the National Trust’s similar lawsuit against the Post Office).
Others will also be there to share information about the Community Garden, the Occupation, and anything else relevant to the fight to Save the Berkeley Post Office.

The FCC will vote on Chairman Wheeler’s proposed rules on February 26. Between now and then, telecom lobbyists are going to do everything in their power to pressure the FCC to water down the rules.
If we remain silent, we run the risk that the FCC commissioners will cave to pressure and insert dangerous loopholes into the rules at the last minute. We need to make it clear to the FCC commissioners that we’ll have their backs if they follow through and pass strong rules by holding Big Telecom accountable on Friday in Berkeley . I hope you’ll be there.

Who Is Defending Workers Fighting For Our Health And Safety
EVENT: SF Press Conference And Rally
OSHA Federal Attorney Darrell Whitman is one of only 3 attorneys in the 9th Region of
OSHA protecting health and safety for whistleblowers. This region covers nearly 40 million
workers. Whitman has been fighting the systemic violation of the rights of OSHA
whistleblowers. He has challenged the systemic corruption in at OSHA and the DOL top
management which not only refuses to enforce the law but has allowed some managers to
falsify federal documents and illegally suppress the rights of whistleblowers.
This is not only a worker issue but the right of the public and communities to be protected
on the highways with trucks, on the railways, airlines, at oil refineries, nuclear plants and
even our health and safety in buildings and other work and industrial sites.
As a result of fighting for whistleblowers, Whitman himself has come under attack
being bullied and threatened for following the law. This press conference will report on this
case and also the connection to the workers and communities in the bay area and the
nation.
