Climate Strike: March 4 Our Future Against Chevron Corporation in Richmond @ Judge George D Carroll Park
Sep 25 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

March destination: Chevron Corporation building in Richmond

Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/events/3667524196605629/

Chevron has devastated our communities for decades. This powerful fossil fuel firm is responsible for mass pollution that hits predominantly Black and Brown residents the hardest. As a result of Chevron’s contributions, kids in Richmond are roughly twice as likely to have respiratory problems such as asthma.

March with us on Global Day of Climate Action (September 25th) at 1pm to demand a sustainable and livable future. We will start at Judge George D. Carroll Park and march to the Chevron Corporation building in Richmond. Youth leaders and climate activists will speaking both before and after the march.

Masks, water, and food will be provided. See you there!

UC Berkeley Cops off Campus Rally @ MLK Park
Oct 1 @ 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
sm_october_1_poster_final.jpg Join us on October 1st for the kick-off rally for a statewide campaign demanding the total abolition of the University of California Police Department (UCPD). This is a coordinated day of action which will occur on all ten UC campuses.

Tens of thousands of UC students and staff come from Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Muslim, immigrant communities that are constantly overpoliced through harassment and baseless arrest. The removal of UCPD and ICE from campus is not the endpoint, but the condition of possibility for imagining safety over security. Nearly all full-time UCPD employees make more than $100,000 per year—in the midst of public austerity measures, we demand the $24 million UCPD budget be transferred to the wellness programs and equity initiatives we desperately require.

The Cops Off Campus coalition has emerged amidst a global pandemic, relentless state and vigilante violence and national calls for the abolition of police, prisons, and the carceral state. The movement to abolish UCPD by Fall 2021 is led by BIPOC community members, undergraduates, graduates and other workers across UC and CSU campuses. Our goal is an end to all policing, beginning with questioning the University of California’s role in the militarized surveillance of higher education and beyond.

Community Guidelines—
Do not speak to UCPD, City of Berkeley police, or university administrators.
Follow all COVID-19 safety protocols: masks on, socially distance outside of your social bubble, stay home if you’ve had any flu-like symptoms in the last 14 days.
Bring pots, pans, noisemakers.

During the COVID-19 pandemic which is the greatest public health crisis in a century, the Mitch McConnell-led US Senate has refused to take up a full and comprehensive relief package to aid struggling Americans. What’s more, McConnell is now hypocritically rushing through a Supreme Court nominee to fill the seat of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

We protest against the meanness, misery and mayhem of Mitch McMconnell and his Senate enablers, who have acted immorally by:

Stacking the Supreme Court, Suppressing the Vote, Sabotaging the USPS,
Stopping the Stimulus, Stealing Healthcare, Stifling Living Wages, Separating Families,
and their infection from the virus of greed, lust for power, and racism

Can you join us for a car caravan in San Francisco to demand a full and just relief package, a stop to the cynical hypocrisy of stacking the Supreme Court a few weeks from the election, and justice for Breonna Taylor?

Even if you don’t have a car, you’re still welcome to attend — we’ll have a contingent on the ground in front of a Senate office that you can join.

This action is part of a nationwide car caravan protest. The Poor People’s Campaign car caravans will be happening simultaneously in dozens of towns and cities across the country. By speaking out as one, we will send a message that our leaders cannot ignore.

Forward together — not one step back!

Trash this Policy! @ Oscar Grant Plaza Amphitheater
Oct 10 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
The United Front Against Displacement is calling for a protest against the city of Oakland’s encampment management policy.
The policy creates no new housing opportunities for homeless Oaklanders and only further propagates their criminalization and displacement. The city has done next to nothing to address the various sanitation issues that people have experienced long before the start of the pandemic. This policy only seeks to exasperate the dire conditions homeless people are experiencing on a daily basis.
We Demand
*An end to current encampment sweeps, deep cleanings, and closures without providing free longterm housing.
*Cancel all back rent and civil debt.
*An end to criminalization and police brutality.
*Adequate sanitation services for all.

March Against Extinction @ Union Square
Oct 24 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
It’s been over 600 Days since SF Declared the Climate Emergency, and Nothing Has Happened.

Over 4 million acres have burned (an area larger than Connecticut)—in 2018, 1.8 million acres burned. Over 31 people and thousands of wild and farmed animals have perished in the last month due to the raging wildfires, drought, and erratic weather conditions. SFO and Oakland International Airports are due to be inoperable and underwater by 2050 OR SOONER. We cannot accept more business as usual, unless we desire extinction.

Extinction Rebellion is demanding that the government act NOW!

Come join us as we chalk the sidewalks, drop banners, post flyers, and mobilize the masses with face-to-face (socially distanced) outreach. At 2:00pm, we will hold speak outs at the steps of SF City Hall and demand that our government #TellTheTruth, #ActNow by establishing a #NetZero2025 carbon emissions goal, and convening a #CitizensAssembly to reach that goal. WE MUST SECURE A LIVABLE FUTURE FOR ALL BY 2030.. We will need YOUR support! We will be following COVID-19 safety guidelines, so please bring your face cover and remember to socially distance!

Protect The Results @ Facebook HQ
Nov 4 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Facebook will play a key role in enabling–or preventing–disinformation about the election results from disrupting our democracy. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌
Millions of people throughout the US will take to the streets on Wednesday, November 4th if Donald Trump refuses to concede after losing the presidential election or claims victory before all the votes are counted. Facebook will play a key role in enabling–or preventing–disinformation about the election results from disrupting our democracy.

That’s why the Protest Facebook coalition has organized a November 4th Protect the Results protest outside of Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park to insist that Facebook stop misinformation from candidates, campaigns, and others who declare victory on Facebook before the final election results are in.

This will be a short, visual action during which we’ll display a human billboard that says TRUTH MATTERS.

We are holding the event at 4 PM so that participants have time to join other local Protect the Results actions that start later in the evening. We hope this protest won’t be necessary, but we’ll be ready in case it is.

Please register for the event so we can provide you with any last-minute updates.

This event, which is among the more than 400 Protect the Results events scheduled across the country, is sponsored by the Protest Facebook coalition, which is co-led by San Francisco Bay Area pro-democracy and media accountability organizations Media Alliance and Global Exchange. Learn more at www.protestfacebook.org.

Can’t get to Menlo Park? You can still Protect the Results. Cyber voter suppression poses a major threat to voter access, which is why we need grassroots power to provide voter support and to disrupt disinformation.

Submit all the misinformation and disinformation that you find as tips at https://reportdisinfo.org/

No More Excuses: Join us to Wake the Zuck Up @ Mark Zuckerberg's house
Nov 21 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Let Us Know You’re Coming

Every day on Facebook, Donald Trump lies with impunity about the outcome of the 2020 elections. His posts, including recent ones claiming, “I won the election,” and calling the election fake, rigged, and a hoax, have been shared literally hundreds of thousands of times.

By providing a megaphone for these lies to be spread and amplified with minimal correction, Facebook and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, have undermined our social fabric for profit.

Please join us outside of Mark Zuckerberg’s house in San Francisco on Saturday to say we’ve had it.

Since Election Day, our rejected, soon-to-be ex-President and his enablers have been swamping Facebook with lies and conspiracy theories about his defeat in the election. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has only made half-hearted and anemic efforts to slow the onslaught.

Changes to Facebook’s algorithm could have been made long ago to stop it from amplifying posts that contain disinformation about both the election and coronavirus. Instead, these posts have generated billions of views – putting the public’s health and democratic rights at rissk. That’s why it’s high time San Francisco took his name off of our general hospital,”

Sponsored by Global Exchange, Media Alliance, Protest Facebook Coalition, CodePink Golden Gate, SumofUS, Diablo Rising Tide, Indivisible SF Peninsula and CA-14, Raging Grannies Action League, MediaJustice, Resistance SF, SF Green Party and others.

NOTE: During this event, we will wear masks, practice social distancing, and respect SF public health rules re COVID19..

Can’t come? You can help us and sign the petition: Demand Facebook and Twitter end the spread of dangerous election disinformation immediately.

WHY: COVID Pandemic Relief is Needed Now!

The HEROES Act was passed by the House of Representatives back in May, but Majority Leader McConnell has not allowed the bill to be taken up by the Senate.

The HEROES Act would grant a second round of $1200 stimulus checks including to noncitizens/immigrants who file yearly income taxes, extends the $600 weekly unemployment enhancement benefit through January 2021, has an eviction moratorium & emergency rent payment assistance, and allocates funds for safe, secure voting during COVID as well as US Postal Service funds.

Then, the House passed the separate Delivering for America Act to at least protect and fully fund the USPS in time for the November election. That legislation was completely stalled by McConnell, as well.

Instead, McConnell and GOP Senators back the Senate HEALS Act which does not extend the federal moratorium on evictions, has inadequate housing relief, would cut the unemployment enhancement down to $200, allocates enormous sums for the military, and has ZERO provisions for safe voting or the US Postal service.

Under Mitch McConnell’s leadership, Senate Republicans have proposed a bill that will leave citizens and states with fewer protections and funds. However, no second stimulus relief package has been passed so far.
