We are asking OUR HOUSED neighbors to contribute hygiene supplies, canned food, bottled water, rain gear, tarps, garbage bags, $$ et al on July 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 & 12 to be redistributed on July 19 to encampments in North Oakland dealing with the COVID 19. We will sanitize and package your donations add a hot packaged meal and fresh fruit to the care kits to be distributed to North Oakland Encampments and surrounding encampments.
In order to properly sanitize and maintain social distancing we are collecting the materials a week prior to when we distribute 500 hot meals and care kits. Overflow resources will be distributed by sister orgs throughout Oakland.

The Occupy Oakland General Assembly meets every Sunday at 4 PM at Oscar Grant Plaza amphitheater at 14th Street & Broadway near the steps of City Hall. If for some reason the amphitheater is being used otherwise and/or OGP itself is inaccessible, we will meet at Kaiser Park, right next to the statues, on 19th St. between San Pablo and Telegraph. If it is raining (as in RAINING, not just misting) at 4:00 PM we meet in the basement of the Omni Collective, 4799 Shattuck Ave., Oakland. (Note: we tend to meet at 3:00 PM during the cooler months from November to early March after Daylights Savings Time.)
On every ‘last Sunday’ we meet a little earlier at 3 PM to have a community potluck to which all are welcome.
OO General Assembly has met on a continuous basis for over six years, since October 2011! Our General Assembly is a participatory gathering of Oakland community members and beyond, where everyone who shows up is treated equally. Our Assembly and the process we have collectively cultivated strives to reach agreement while building community.
At the GA committees, caucuses, and loosely associated groups whose representatives come voluntarily report on past and future actions, with discussion. We encourage everyone participating in the Occupy Oakland GA to be part of at least one associated group, but it is by no means a requirement. If you like, just come and hear all the organizing being done! Occupy Oakland encourages political activity that is decentralized and welcomes diverse voices and actions into the movement.

Join Sunflower Alliance, the Sunrise Movement, and other climate activists to support workers at the Oakland Telegraph Ave. MacDonald’s, who have been on strike since May demanding PPE, sick pay, hazard pay and social distancing.
The workers report that they were asked to wear dog diapers for PPE, that they got no sick pay when they were sick and thought they had COVID, and that the store was not enforcing social distancing. Of the 33 workers, 12 ended up getting COVID and 31 of them are now on strike. See news story here
Join Fight for 15 for a short march/rally on July 20, a national day of action for Fight for 15., starting at 11 am at Mosswood Park, then march to the Telegraph McDonald’s (march route here) where there will be a noon rally.

Join workers walking out for Black Health and Vitality! Black healthcare workers, patients, and communities are on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic. Even before the pandemic, mismanagement of our public hospital system was depriving workers of access to vital resources and proper staffing. Unequal health outcomes for Black patients continue to pose a significant threat to public well being. With lives on the line, health professionals and patients alike are demanding action. Alameda Health System must become accountable to the public and put an end to its racist health inequities.
HOW WE STRIKE
From 12-2pm healthcare workers will walk out from all AHS facilities, while community supporters rally outside Highland Hospital in East Oakland and Fairmont Hospital in San Leandro.

After walking out, we will lie down for 8 minutes and 46 seconds—the time in which George Floyd was suffocating under a police officer’s knee—to honor George Floyd as well as the Black healthcare workers who have died from lack of PPE while fighting Covid-19.
Black frontline healthcare workers, patients and community will speak on the urgency of these issues.

WHY WE STRIKE
The dire situation of our public health system disproportionately affects Black communities.
Under the current unelected, unaccountable administration, Black patients and workers often receive inferior treatment in our AHS facilities, all while management tries to take away the rights, pay, and benefits of the Black unionized workers who are fighting to save lives.

We call on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to take responsibility for our public health and unequal health outcomes for Black communities!

We are thrilled to invite YOU and 2-3 of YOURS! Into a virtual (via zoom) open share creative sharing about how you are considering, dreaming, engaging, and employing alternatives to policing systems when you face threats to your security and safety.
While we have been learning and building together in the Bay Area, a national Black–led movement and uprising for the abolition of white supremacist policing systems is forcing a national conversation and shift in practice about how we will invest in community, neighborhood, and personal systems of community solidarity, mutual aid, and safety – rather than relying on violent and white supremacist policing systems when we are afraid, or need help. What amazing times, and openings! Such appreciation for courageous Black youth, in particular.
Alongside this powerful movement, we seek to continue to support one another in the East Bay, especially those of us in largely/majority white communities and institutions, to develop our tools, resources, and practices for engaging alternatives to policing systems when we face fear and crises. Let’s help each other not become #karens and #kens, while building a supportive and robust, caring network that holds our concerns. Please join us for a series of loving and courageous conversations in July to learn more, and to share our ideas and resources for community investments and alternatives to policing systems.
