Listen up Bay Area. Deportation defense rally for the Mendoza-Sanchez infront of Highland 🏥 @ 12pm Monday. Come out & support! #HeretoStay
— Indivisible Petaluma (@IndivisibleLuma) August 11, 2017
President Trump has threatened the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) with “fire and fury like the world has never seen” – a new nuclear war aimed at annihilating the DPRK. We must say NO to a devastating new war in Korea!
Are you outraged that the Alameda County Sheriff’s Dept. is retweeting white supremacists?
Are you angry that Sheriff Ahern and other sheriffs want to keep deporting our loved ones? (The CA State Sheriffs Association is trying to bully Gov Brown into further weakening SB 54, the “Sanctuary” bill that would push back on Trump’s deportation machine!)
Then join us tomorrow to say NO to white supremacy and racism!
You probably already heard that on Sunday night, the Alameda County Sheriff’s official twitter account retweeted infamous white supremacist Richard Spencer.
The department’s claiming this is an “accident,” but in fact it’s part of a long pattern of racist attitudes and practices at the department.
This same deputy, Sargeant Kelly, made headlines defending the arrest of a fruit vendor a few months ago, saying: “If you don’t enforce this type of selling, it will begin to look like a Third World fruit market.”
And Sheriff Ahern himself signed a letter endorsing white nationalist Jeff Sessions’ nomination as Attorney General. And he’s also said he can identify undocumented immigrants based on “language, luggage, and clothing.”
We cannot remain silent.

Do you have an idea to change your community for the better? Do you have questions about policymaking on a local or state level? Do you want to explore your inner policymaker?
Come get answers, ideas, and strategies from our center’s staff, experienced attorneys and policymakers!
This is a two-part event (You can come to both, or either!)
1. From 5:00PM – 5:45PM, there will be a DIY Policymaking teach-in facilitated by Sustainable Economies Law Center’s Policy Director, Yassi Eskandari, and Executive Director, Janelle Orsi. They’ll present best practices for engaging in local and state-level policy issues.
2. From 5:45PM to 7:30PM, we’ll be hosting a Policy Cafe and offering individualized consultations for folks who want to discuss their specific ideas and get advice on questions such as:
- What are the next steps after I have come up with my policy idea?
- How do I draft a policy proposal?
- How do I approach council members, county supervisors, or other legislators about my idea?
- How do I navigate the legislative process?
- In what ways can my nonprofit participate in policy advocacy?
oin us outside the San Francisco Hall of Justice as we protest anti-abortion advocates David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt.
In 2015, David and Sandra released edited footage claiming that Planned Parenthood was selling fetal tissue for profit. These claims were later proven to be completely false. The videos were nothing more than an attempt to slander Planned Parenthood, incite violence against abortion providers, and make abortion inaccessible. David and Sandra are currently being charged with 15 felony counts.
Let’s show them that the State of California will not tolerate anti-choice propaganda and that we stand with Planned Parenthood. Under the Trump regime we cannot afford to be silent when it comes to women’s rights.
Feel free to make your own sign and bring a friend. Handmaid costumes can be provided but please make sure to RSVP so that we know how many to provide.

Join SURJ-Bay Area for an emergency information and demo preparation meet-up to ready ourselves for the 8/27 Resist Racist Violence & Hate in Berkeley march and rally.
We’ll present an overview of what’s happening this Sunday, answer questions, and talk about things you can do to prepare when white supremacists come to town.
Our strength is in our numbers. Remember, we represent millions!
Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible, scent-free space.
Please join us at the Anti-Racist rally to be held in opposition to the White Supremacists that are organizing a racist rally at Chrissy Fields in San Francisco.
There is a call to assemble in the morning, followed by a march to Chrissy Field at 10:00am.
PLEASE CHECK BACK HERE TO MAKE SURE WE HAVEN’T CHANGED THE MEETING POINT.
Racism is evil. It must be eradicated from the face of the earth. We will not let facist, racist, morally bankrupt degenerates invade our beautiful city and spew hate. The time for passive tolerance is over. It’s time to stand our ground. Its time to stand up. Its time to come out of comfort zones and speak with one united voice — and send a message that hate has no safe space in San Francisco!
We are not advocating violence or physical conflicts. We are advocating participants — young, old, brave, bold; show up in force, create signs and disrupt the agenda of the unwelcome hate groups. One voice. One people. One love. United we will stand.
**** IMPORTANT ACTION UPDATE, READ CAREFULLY ****
Today, we scared off the white supremacists and fascists from gathering at Crissy Field, only to announce they would relocate to the Alamo Square Park tomorrow at 2PM.
San Franciscans will not tolerate hate in our city, that’s why we are STILL organizing to end white supremacy tomorrow and rallying at 11AM at the corner of Steiner and Hayes.
Our goal is to shut down white supremacy and show the real power of San Francisco. We will also be vigilant of any attacks on the Black institutions of the Western Addition—particularly its churches—and stop them from marching on events in Civic Center, the Castro and the Mission.
Tomorrow, stay careful, stay courageous and organize with us to end white supremacy.
Sign for Bay Resistance on their website AND text RESIST to 41411 for important action alerts.

This Labor Day, join #FightFor15 fast-food workers going on strike in over 300 cities along with community organizations and our neighbors to fight inequality and take to the streets to declare that America Needs Unions!
Unions are still the best way to fix economic and political systems rigged to benefit big corporations. Service sector jobs are the fastest growing jobs in the country, but they’re often low paying without benefits. In order to win fair pay, fair schedules, paid family leave, healthcare, and gender and racial equality we must win a union.
And not just in the U.S. At the same time, McDonald’s workers in the U.K. will be striking for the first time ever!
Join us Monday, September, 4, as we come together to demand justice in our economy!
*** NOTE: This will be a RADICAL space. ICE officers, police, deportation service members, etc. ARE NOT WELCOME. And folks who support them are not welcome either. We are planning on creating a safe and inclusive environment–anyone who supports or is apart of law enforcement or other deportation services will disrupt the space that we are aiming to create. Be cautious and defend those under attack at whatever means necessary. ***
Immigrants have been under attack within Amerikkka for decades, now–it’s nothing new. However, the Trump Administration has recently sent out and initiated threats on our undocumented siblings, and it’s time that we show them solidarity and fight back against the normalization of Trump’s cruelty and bigotry.
We must show up as a community in solidarity with those who are targeted by the threats on DACA made by Trump; and we must resist the hateful, misinformed actions that this administration is taking to further marginalize and oppress our fellow citizens. Ending DACA will affect over 11 million children—we must be prepared and ready to mobilize the SECOND one of their lives is under attack.
On Saturday, September 9th at 2PM in Oscar Grant Plaza, Oakland, we invite all undacamented folks, families and allies to join us in a rally and march to show love and support for #DACA. We must show those affected that we stand with them, and those making the decision that we’ve already made it for them. We are here to stay!
Please join us, this will be a peaceful demonstration centered around showing endless support and love for our community members who are under attack by this administration and ICE.
If you are able to help provide bottled water/granola bars, OR if you or someone you know would be fit to speak at the rally, please contact me at:
