DACA Is Not Enough! Citizenship for All Immigrants Rally
Aug 17 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
SAN FRANCISCO RALLY FOR DACA & IMMIGRANT RIGHTS

Info & Register: https://action.unitedwedream.org/events/daca-is-not-enough-citizenship-for-all-multi-city-rally-san-fransisc-ca

Nationwide week of action for immigrant rights: https://unitedwedreamaction.org/undeniable-squad/

We are hosting a rally in San Fransisco on August 17th. Kicking off at 11:00 AM at 1 Post St, San Francisco, CA 94104

Earlier this month, a judge in Texas ruled ending part of the DACA program. Initial applications are no longer accepted – leaving more than 80,000 immigrant youth in limbo. We know that DACA is only a band-aid solution to a big problem. We DEMAND a permanent solution, which is CITIZENSHIP FOR ALL IMMIGRANTS NOW! We want to put pressure on them to pass the immigration bill currently up to vote.

With the passage of this bill, millions of people in this country would be able to fully participate in our communities. This is a small window of opportunity, that if we rally up together, we can make this into a reality. If you have been wanting to help but not sure where or how to start, this is your chance!

We hope you can join us to connect and show our congress that this is an urgent bill that people in this country care about .

Best Regards,
CA U-Squad Team

protect environmental justice communities @ CalEPA Bldg
Aug 30 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Children and families in California frontline communities are sick and dying because the agencies that should be protecting them are in bed with corporate polluters and developers.

Join Sunflower Alliance and 22 other sponsoring groups to demand that CalEPA and the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) take immediate action to protect environmental justice communities across California.

For Bay Area carpool info, email action@sunflower-alliance.org.

EJ communities from Laytonville to LA will converge on the CalEPA Building in downtown Sacramento to speak out and act up against these agencies’ refusal to follow science and protect the health of vulnerable communities.

A full bedroom set will be brought to the protest, with volunteers representing CalEPA, DTSC, lobbyists, corporate developers and polluters in bed, drinking champagne and smoking cigars.

Following the hour-long protest, we will gather at Cesar Chavez Plaza across the street for an optional EJ training by California Environmental Justice Coalition. We’ll be on our way home by 3 p.m.

You can learn more on the CA-EJ protest website, which includes information about the groups involved and the demands they’ll present to CalEPA and DTSC.

Masks and social distancing are required!  Let’s be smart and safe.

Shut Down All 800 US Bases & Withdraw All US Troops Abroad @ SF Federal Bldg
Aug 31 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
The collapse of the US supported government and military in Afhganistan is not an accident or mistake. The US spent over $2.3 trillion or $300 million a month for this bi-partisan operation. It helped train and arm Osama Bin Laden and tens of thousands to fight the Russians and this is now the blowback caused by the US in the Middle East wars in Iraq, Syria and Libya.

This war in Afhaniistan killed and wounded hundreds of thousands of people of Afghanistan and thousands of Americans and contractors. The military industrial complex and war profiteers have made out like bandits with the US people paying the cost. It is time to close all 800 bases around the world including in Cuba, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Germany, Turkey, Guam and the Ukraine. It is also time to end the sanctions on Venezuela, Iran, Cuba and North Korea.

The more than $750 billion a year spent on the war machine should be spent instead to deal with the pandemic, our homeless, our crumbling infrastructure and full healthcare for all the people of the United States.
Join together NOW to end the military industrial complex which benefits from wars around the world only benefiting
the billionaires.

Stop Funding Fossil Fuels- Wells Fargo @ Wells Fargo
Sep 17 @ 11:00 am – 1:30 pm

RSVP: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/september-17th-end-fossil-finance-build-a-renewable-future/

We’ve got a big action in the works and we need you! Driven by the climate crisis, fires, droughts, and floods are happening everywhere. Financial institutions continue to fund new fossil fuel projects which will only increase the destruction. This needs to STOP!
On Friday, September 17th, join us at the Wells Fargo world headquarters in downtown San Francisco for the kickoff of a new round of actions demanding Wells shifts away from funding fracking and tar sands — and into clean energy and the green economy.

Let’s make some noise and let Wells know that they need to FORGO FRACKING, cancel funding for Line 3 and make measurable commitments to divesting their portfolio from planet-heating, ecosystem-destroying, treaty-violating fossil fuels.

Find out more about what we have in store at our website: https://extinctionrebellionsfbay.org/posts/2021/09/stop-funding-fossil-fuels/

War Is Killing the Planet/ International Day of Peace @ Pelosi's front door
Sep 21 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

“War is Literally Killing the Planet”. The war economy is brought to you by these players: Speaker Nancy Pelosi, BlackRock Worldwide Investments, Lockheed Martin, and Chevron, and you and I bought front row seats. We’re funding it.

With our votes and taxes, we are enabling the destruction of life on earth. We need a peace economy to replace this suicidal situation. We are angry that these players profited handsomely from the 20-year war in Afghanistan. We are grieving that they are destroying the planet worldwide. We are outraged that they are siphoning over 50% of the U.S. federal budget for continuing wars, while people all over the planet are suffering from the climate emergency, pandemic, going hungry, seeing their clean water and air destroyed by wars, resource extraction and fossil fuel emissions, and fearing the future for their children and all beings.

The war economy supplies huge short-term profits to these war profiteers and we are calling them out!

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s majority in Congress siphons over 50% of our federal budget to fund the skyrocketing costs of war and Pentagon operations with their huge greenhouse gas emissions. Pelosi insists on spending our money on continual wars and refuses to support Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, affordable housing, education, elder and child care, clean water, air, and food — the things that give life and peace a chance.

BlackRock is making a killing on killing with its investments in the war economy and planet destroying fossil fuel and nuclear industries, earning a handsome profit for its investors (https://blackrocksbigproblem.com/the-problems/).

Lockheed buys Congress with it’s generous campaign contributions, acting as the U.S. State Dept. and Pentagon’s master, weaponizing space and urging a war on China, and selling weapons to human rights violators like the Israeli government and the Saudis — who beheaded a journalist, attacked the World Trade Center, and bombed a school bus in Yemen killing 40 children with a 500 pound Lockheed bomb. The Saudis are U.S. allies, thanks to Lockheed, Pelosi, Chevron and BlackRock.

Chevron sits on Lockheed’s Board of Directors and is a major Pentagon contractor, supplying fossil fuels for the military’s immense greenhouse gas emissions. Chevron’s short term thirst for profits, polluting, pillaging and extracting fossil fuels, aided by militarized police forces and private armies, is adding to the planet’s death spiral. Chevron is a criminal enterprise.

We are “connecting the dots” to show that divesting from the war economy — represented by Pelosi, the Pentagon, BlackRock, Lockheed and Chevron– and investing instead in the peace economy we deserve, is the way out of this tragic situation.

For International Day of Peace, CODEPINK and allies are going to expose the war financiers, war profiteers, and war climate destroyers and call for funding a peace economy instead.

SF Car caravan & rally: Cancel the Rents!
Sep 26 @ 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
-Car caravan: 11:30AM at 1875 Marin St.
-Rally: 1:30PM at Garfield Square
*****
Join Sunday’s car caravan (on bike or car) to demand: Stop all evictions! Cancel the rent debt! Housing for all! If you can’t make the caravan, feel free to join for the rally at 1:30PM at Garfield Square.
The U.S. government just marked Labor Day by cutting federal unemployment benefits for 7 million workers, which will immediately deepen poverty and compound the housing crisis.
The most recent eviction moratorium enacted by the CDC was cruelly struck down by order of the Supreme Court. The court’s majority opinion was explicit in its prioritization of profit over human lives. It argued, “Preventing [landlords] from evicting tenants who breach their leases intrudes on one of the most fundamental elements of property ownership—the right to exclude.” The court also expressed their fear that if the moratorium was allowed to stand then the government could also decide to mandate, “free grocery delivery to the homes of the sick or vulnerable.” The Supreme Court proved yet again that it is a tool for the rich and powerful to oppress the working class.
We need to build a powerful movement to win an indefinite moratorium that prevents 11 million people from being kicked out of their homes. But that alone will not resolve the situation. We need rent and mortgage cancellation to wipe out the mountain of debt that has accumulated amid the Coronavirus-induced economic crisis. The big corporations and banks have already been thoroughly bailed out by the government — renters, mortgage holders and small landlords deserve the same kind of desperately-needed assistance.
*****
Join us in San Francisco at 11:30am at 1875 Marin St for a car caravan and rally (1:30PM at Garfield Square) with the Cancel the Rents Campaign to demand that:
∙ Congress pass an indefinite moratorium on evictions that covers 100% of the country
∙ Authorities at all levels dramatically speed up the distribution of already-allocated renter relief funds
∙ Congress cancel the rents and wipe out all rent and mortgage debt accumulated during the pandemic

The right to safe, legal abortion – San Francisco
Oct 2 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Three weeks ago, getting an abortion in Texas became almost virtually impossible as Senate Bill 8 passed – making it illegal to get an abortion after 5 or 6 weeks no matter the circumstance. The US Supreme Court denied an emergency stay on this bill, and instead allowed it to go into effect immediately. With their upcoming ruling on the Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, this lack of action represents a willingness of the court to appease right-wing bigots. With attacks on abortion rights poised to increase as the Supreme Court fails to defend them, and restrictive legislation spreading to other states, we need to act now to block these efforts to restrict abortion rights further – and beyond that, we need to demand that the right to safe, legal abortion be granted for everyone under federal law.

Joe Biden has pledged multiple times to make Roe v Wade, in his words, the “law of the land”. The Democrats have control of both the Presidency and Congress. As right-wing attacks spread, there is no excuse not to act immediately to make abortion legal on a national level; however, they have shown absolutely no willingness to act. It took a mass movement to earn abortion rights in the first place. It will take a mass movement now to defend them.

We will be at the women’s march in San Francisco Oct 2, demanding mass action to defend and extend reproductive rights. The march starts at 11am at Grove St. and Hyde St. in San Francisco – see you there!

Socialist Alternative Bay Area will also be holding a virtual public meeting the day after the event to discuss what our next steps in the fight should be, more information to come!

Defend Reproductive Rights @ TBA
Oct 2 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

WHY WE ARE MOBILIZING

https://www.womensmarchsac.com/october-2021-event-info

Abortion has never been fully accessible, but we are at the risk of losing our reproductive freedom completely. The call to action is clear, and urgent. The relentless attacks from Texas to Mississippi are ramping up quickly.

Anti-choice extremists have a deep desire to return to a time when there was more clear and effective domination and control over queer and trans folks, women, and people of color; they want to revive those old values and societal norms to the point of re-acceptance. The authoritarian agenda of reproductive control is fueled by misogyny and racism – and we must challenge it, together.

We have this opportunity to invite all the people that know us and love us into this important movement and work united as we build something better for our families and communities. As a small powerful group tries to come for our human rights over and over again, we’ll never let go of our vision of reproductive justice; for unfettered abortion access and everything we need to support and grow our families to thrive and live healthy lives.

This is your fight. This is our fight. This impacts all of us. Rise up on October 2!
