Youth Action at Air District Headquarters, June 1; Hearing June 2 @ BAAQMD Headquarters
Jun 1 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Attend an action at the Air District (BAAQMD) Headquarters, stand with community youth and organizations, and tell the Board members we need them to vote the right way —on June 2nd, the next day—to protect community health from the ravages of particulate matter pollution.  We cannot afford to lose this intergenerational fight for environmental justice.  Our lungs just cannot afford it.

You can RSVP for the June 1st action on Facebook (or here if you don’t have Facebook).

And don’t forget to sign the petition!

The Air District must protect community health and truly bring “a healthy breathing environment for every Bay Area resident,” in the words of its mission statement.

The next day on June 2nd, the Bay Area Air District will be voting on whether to take strong regulatory action against Chevron and PBF refineries and force the facilities to make dramatic pollution cuts.  After seeing the stark health impact data and hearing from community members like you, the Advisory Council of the Air District recommended that BAAQMD take “maximum feasible action within its authority to reduce emissions from [particulate matter] sources, prioritizing the most impacted areas.”  However, Big Oil and its allies are lobbying aggressively against the cat cracker Rule 6-5, distorting facts and making false claims.

Good Trouble: Candlelight Vigil for Democracy @ Entrance is on Martin Luther King
Jul 17 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

America is at a crossroads.

Six months have passed since the failed attack on our nation and our democracy on January 6th. Since that day, anti-voter laws have been passed in states all over the country and the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent rulings have made clear that it will not act to protect the sacred right to vote. This summer, Congressional districts risk being redrawn in a way that will allow politicians to choose their voters – rather than the voters fairly choosing who represents them.

We have reached an inflection point in which we must force our elected officials to act now or risk losing the very foundation of our republic.

But there is hope for us to stop this undercurrent of corruption and rebuild American democracy so that the freedom to vote is protected, billionaires don’t control our political systems, and our representatives actually respond to we the people.

To do this, we must pass the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and D.C. Statehood – and we can’t let anything, including the Jim Crow filibuster, stand in our way!

Join us for The Good Trouble Vigils for Democracy on July 17 – the one year mark of the passing of Rep.John Lewis – as we carry on his legacy by hosting candlelight vigils nationwide to demand that Congress act to protect our freedom to vote and rebuild our democracy.

We must and will win this Fight!

Get Killer Cops Off the Street! @ Online
Aug 20 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Make calls together on Zoom to get killer cops off our streets!

Community,
Today at noon we’re making calls together on Zoom to get killer cops off our streets! Grab your lunch and join our SB2 Lunch POWER Hour.

While police officers continue to harm our community members without any accountability, California is only 1 out of 4 states that has no law to decertify cops that put our communities in danger.

Join us, Michelle and Ashley Monterrosa (sisters of Sean Monterrosa, who was killed by Vallejo PD in the wake of the George Floyd uprisings), and the Let Us Live coalition to demand change from Bay Area legislators!
WHAT: SB2 Lunch Power Hour
WHEN: Friday, August 20, 2021 from 12 to 1 p.m.
WHERE: Zoom : bit.ly/sb2powerhour0820

Police officers engaging in anti-Black racism and abuse of their power creates unsafe communities. California has an obligation to ensure their badges are PERMANENTLY taken away when they commit serious misconduct, removing them from our streets and ensuring they can do no more harm.

Share this to get the word out. We want to get these dangerous cops off of our streets ASAP!

In solidarity,
Anti Police-Terror Project
Anti Police-Terror Project is a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. We support families surviving police terror in their fight for justice, documenting police abuses and connecting impacted families and community members with resources, legal referrals, and opportunities for healing.

All-hands Call on DeJoy’s Electric Vehicles Contract
Mar 3 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

You are invited to a Zoom webinar.
Topic: All-hands Call on DeJoy’s Electric Vehicles Contract

Register in advance for this webinar:
https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_xQ-RThUbQs6EZNRYJbBU3Q

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

The Save the USPS Coalition invites you to an “all-hands” meeting on Postmaster Louis DeJoy’s gas-fleet, non-union contract with Oshkosh Defense. In this meeting, we plan to bring together postal advocates and labor, environmental and contracting experts to discuss what legal and political actions we can take to slow and stop this contract. If you are interested in working in coalition to bring down this contract, fill out this Doodle Poll and let us know when works for you. Further, if you know of anyone working in this area who should be included in the call, please let us know.
Who we are:
The Save the USPS coalition is a group of nearly 300 public interest groups that came together when Postmaster General Louis DeJoy was appointed to  protect and expand the postal service into a hub for community services.
Background on the Oshkosh Contract:
With DeJoy’s direction, USPS plans to spend $11.3 billion on a new fleet of USPS trucks. This contract with Oshkosh has a slew of environmental and labor issues. The trucks would be mostly gas-powered and be built by non-union labor in right-to-work South Carolina. Watch More Perfect Union’s quick video covering the contract’s long list of issues. Our ask is a nearly entirely electric fleet built by union workers in Wisconsin. USPS claims the contract is finalized, but it’s not over yet!
Help us strategize about the next stage of this fight!
Please fill out this Doodle Poll as soon as possible.
